I want to say my 500i, it's one of the most versatile saws ever made...however, for a zombie apocalypse saw, fuel injection probably isn't the way to go.

That leaves either my 372xp or one of my 044s. I'd probably choose the 372, just because of the much better AV and air filtration.

My ms241cm is the best saw ever made for maneuvering effortlessly in the field here in smallwoodsville.
For felling or bucking larger trees (16-20in is large around here) I have a Dolmar 5105 which is extremely aggressive even with an 18" bar.
- It makes noticeably more sweat and fatigue than the 241 out in the rugged terrain though.
At the sawbuck/horse I like to use a 70cc with a 20in, I have a large solid sawbuck and I apply multiple trunks on it.

Most used saw I have is an Echo 280T, there is a lot more branches than trunk on a tree.

so which one! saw?

I have everything from 35- 50-70-90-120cc

My old 044 has been doing it already for near 30yrs so why give up on a good thing.

That’s a toss up between the 08s and the pioneer super 620’s I have been stacking parts for the pioneers when I can.

Either the Super XL or a new condition 041 Farm Boss with points ignition. The 041 is so darn heavy though.

Not a single vote for 1128 Stihl ?. Well there you have one. Boolit proof. Partsaplenty and easy as fak to build. Not sure what kind of "firewood" you folks can chunk down with 50cc saws but I reach for 70 class wayyyy more often. Tree service/ firewood fairies never drop "sticks"

Stihl 031av has been my firewood saw for almost 40 years. Very reliable. I reach for the Homelite Classic 200 late in the day when my back tells me so.

I would probably say a Husqvarna 55, or 372 or an Homelite xl12.

572xp for me. My take is have multiples for part commonality. Makes troubleshooting way easier when you have another working one sitting right there for comparison.

I could easily go to the end of the world with my Echo’s 370, 400, 680, Stihl 261, and Husqvarna 395. If I had to pick one for reliability and capability, it would be the Echo 680. It can handle big wood and has an auxiliary thumb pump oiler (priceless), and is the coolest running 2 stroke I’ve ever ran. Easy to work on and tune. But, if the zombies really came, hopefully cutting wood wouldn’t be a huge priority and I’d buy a new cs-400 and save my back for the apocalypse.

My Stihl MS441c M-tronic overheard my reply to this thread (MS361). It yelled, "That does it, I will never again noodle cut another big oak log in half for you or quarter it. I've been insulted!" I replied, "OK, I'll post a Pic of you in action."

Really clean noodles and no clogging. No wonder this saw was jealous of me selecting the 361 instead. You gotta be careful what you say around saws these days..

The 361 is the smoothest running saw I've used, very good anti-vibe..

Echo 620p or husky 372.....however, I just bought a 361 clone, and I'm liking that saw pretty good too.

I feel like this is how preppers are born. Find the best of the best, and then follow the adage of “2 is 1, 1 is none”.

Next thing you know, you have 20 of the same saw model and your wife is yelling “DAMMIT WHAT’D YOU BUY NOW?” as the pallet of MREs is offloaded in the driveway.
