About to go out and pick up my new MS200 and was wondeing if it would be good to run the PNN Pico Micro Narrow bar and chain on this saw for faster cutting. If not, which chain and bar should I get for best perfomance out of this little 35cc motor?

we run 3/8 LP on them, only run stihl bar's on them. all the after market bar's we tried are garbage. laser 3/8 lp is crap........the 3/8 LP from oregon 91vs is good stuff.

3/8" lo-pro, standard .050" gauge. 14" or 16" bar. The narrow kerf (.043") is typically found on the pole pruners and the wimpy, smaller saws that can't pull real chain. The narrow kerf is only available in the 'safety' style (as far as I know) and it is slower cutting. It is also not as readily available as the standard 3/8" lo-pro.

Whoa now, hold the phone Stump Doc, I thought you were getting the 361! I've been away for a few days, and come back to find you're getting the 200. That's fine and dandy, just curious.

As far as the chain, I've got the .050 on mine. The.043 is too little chain on a saw this nice.

Jeff

One other note, I've never known anybody who could find a better bar for these saws than the Stihl bars. In 3/8 LP nothing else comes close. Buying cheap bars for a MS200 is false economy.

3/8 picco with 50 gauge =63pm chain for stihl. best bar with getting most power from a 200t is 16" 3003-4813 part number Stihl brand with 63PM55 chain.

See what happens when you leave Jeff? Can't leave me alone for a minute and who knows what I will come home with. At least I still got a Stihl:D

Brian, The Narrow Kerf Picco micro chain comes in a high performance "Pro" chain-wide depth gauge style so it still qualifies as safety but without bumpers.

325 is ok but will cut power down a bit. thicker chain so pulls down it can be done though and still have good power to cut good.
