Have a couple pairs Baileys and a pair labonville. Prefer the Labonville and in the future that is what I'll buy. Better rated, seem nicer made a little, and the snaps seem better quality to boot. Used the Baileys chaps for years, though, with no real problem.
Some day soon I am going to take my oldest pair (greasy now) and stick a saw in them (without me in them). Wish I had a video camera.
I am 5 11 and only 175, and I wish all my chaps could cinch down a little more on the legs. I usually twist the strap once before snapping it to take up slack.

I have the Baileys pants, and the Labonville full wrap chaps.
The Baileys are nice in cold weather, the Labonville feel sturdier, and are MUCH easier to put on/take off.

I have the 9 Layer orange Stihl ones and absolutely love them. They are comofrotable a little hot in the summer but still I can stand to wear them all day. I have also tried them out twice with the 385xp and stopped it the saw both times just went right back to work. They also wash really well most dirt is gone when they imerge from the washer. They are also easy to mend if you do cut them. Do laugh but I just throw them in the sewing machine and hit them with a little black thread a zig zag stich and they are as good as new. Just my opinion, we had husky chapps at work and we threw them away they don't last for day to day use and don't make it throught the wash. I can't speak for Labonville ones will have try them one good time.

I have the ones sold by Gempler's, the brand name on them is "Elvex." Had them a year, so far they are holding up great. Only ones I've ever had or worn, so can't compare. They were something like $65.
I have been using the Labonville chaps for about 4 years. The only thing I dont like about them is I wish I would have got the top that doesnt cover the ankle. I Mostly use them when logging and find that the part that protects the ankle gets hung up on brush and tends to push your pant leg up.
I think I may get a pair of the Labonville pant inserts next.

No offense meant, but anyone that has cut their chaps twice needs to do some soul searching, in my opinion.

Good call. That's what I use in timber. You forget you've got them on. And I wear full length pants, I don't bob them.
Are you using them in conjunction with Filson double tin pants?
If so how wide are the leg openings IE do they have a generous boot cut? Wouldnt want my pants tight around my boots.
Incidentally once the tin cloth is broken its supperb for walking through nasty thorns and brush. I have not found anything thats comparable and my TC jacket i use for grouse hunting is like new after 5 seasons of heavy used.

Ben, I use the Tin brush pants, and not the double tin. The Tin brush pants are single layer dry finish Tin on the butt, and backs of the legs, but waxed Tin on the fronts, shins and calves, over the base layer of dry tin. They breath better. I've got some of the Double Tins too, and they're almost overkill-too hot in the summer and too stiff in the winter. I wear the Tin jacket too. (See avatar.) That's about perfect. I've worn the waxed Shelter/Tin pants (those are the pants I have on in that grouse picture I posted a couple of weeks back and are almost as heavy as the Double Tin) and the Shelter brush pants (I think that's what I'm wearing in my avatar as well, because my Tin brush pants where in Seattle getting some holes repaired.), but the Tin Brush pants are the perfect mix of weight, breathability, flexability and comfort.

I wear the SwedePro Summer pants and love them.
Six layer protection, all day comfort, easy to move around in and they don't snag on every stick in the woods. Nice pockets to carry the little odds and ends and suspender buttons to keep them up (although I usually just wear a belt). The pants protect 360* from the knee down and have flaps that cover the tops of your boots and help keep the brush and chips out of your boot strings. The backs have zippers from the top of the calf down so they’re easy to get on over your boots which is good cause I usually wear them over top of my other pants. A little hot in the summer but its better than cut'n your leg off. I like them a lot better than the Stihl chaps I had. Seemed like I was always getting something stuck between the chaps and my leg, and backing out of brush always ended in me snagging on something and darn near falling down.

to be honest i don't like any of them!! i do own a pair of brand new huskies tha the only thing they have ever been used for was a loader seat cushion, Husky are the only chaps that i have used, and i tested them on a wide open 395xp-brand new pair, had just taken them out of the box, turned loose a big beach with a light rain while in the hills and slipped, laid the saw right across my left kneecap, not a scratch, that being said i should prolly start wearing mine, just kinda got in the hadit of not doing(old habits bad or good are hard to break)
one thing i like about the husky pro full wraps is the front pocket that they have.

not that i dont like them, just don't like wearing them. doesn't make sense i know, maybe im just hard headed or ignorant but i just haven't been wearing them for a while. ill try to put that on my to do list tho

A little off topic I know, but will the ability of the kevlar to protect degrade over time? I'm using a pair of hand-me-down Baileys from my dad(which he got after removing a bulk of the epidermis from his right thigh(he's a lefty)). The chaps are probably over 15 yrs. old.
P.S. this is the first time I've ever used
a set of parentheses inside a set of
parentheses.

Both times occuret in the same event. I slipped at the saw bounced once at my upper thigh and then at my shin. I was pissed. Not a good day but the chaps were brand new and I had to sew them already. I did do some soul searching never again will I walk on a log again with caulks.
