And I was nice enough to say stihl and husky were neck and neck....lol
Ok fellow NRA member you read what I'm asking, what should I buy for up in the tree and what should I buy for on the ground????

you've allready had some good suggestions but i like huskys better personal preferance. i have a husky 372 and 346 both power ported. will be getting a 385 in next couple weeks. as for in tree i would go with one thats made for that but i have no suggestions on that since i dont climb. heres my thoughts on stihl (Stuff This In Hollow Log)

Now see I was also impressed with the 372 but the 440 felt better/lighter in my hands for some reason. I am open to suggestions on a husky model to take up in the tree.

Up the tree?

This works for me...

ms200t.jpg

MS440 with 20" replaceable nose (solid) bar and RS chain; and MS200T with 14" laminated bar and PM (not PM1) chain.  Feed them good fresh gas with Mobil1 MX2T oil at 40:1, keep the chains sharp, and they'll last like the Energizer bunny for you.

Enjoy.

Have you seen the radar down here for the last two weeks? :dizzy:

I call times like this 'vacation'. ;)

Just a thought but I wouldn't buy the 260PRO because to me on a small saw its not worth an extra $50 for a decompression valve and adjustable oiler as I only run 16'' bars on that size saw.

pro

Always thoght it was funny that the last person to buy an 026 Pro was a professional. But they buy lots of 026 (260). Just don't need air conditioning up in the bucket

Hey
If you are not doing tree work everyday go with the 260
Never mind the girlyman statements this saw will work on the ground as well in the tree.
And as for the Husky V.S Stihl forget what the other said about the other's saw, it is just stupid sales crap!
Go with what is more popular in your area as in who has bigger and more dealers in the area.
If you cant get parts and service it really doesn't matter what saw you use!
Take Care

Ain't that a fact? THAT is why I can't check out any Huskys. :(

okay rock and rolla

Hey;What about the infamous 090g,we have been waiting to hear about?Lost in cyberspace?A little feedback ,please. Al

Thanks John and M/B.
I think I'm all set now. I'm gonna get both the 260pro for in the tree and the 440mag for the ground. I got 3 stihl dealers in my area and only one husky dealer and the husky dealer admitted that him and husky have a rough relationship so getting parts might become a problem. The stihl dealer I deal with stocks most parts and if I need something he doesn't have, he said it will take 1 to 2 days for him to get it with no problem.

Well guys thanks for all your help and I'll let you know how I make out......

Jay

just keep in mind that the older 026 80's model goes better at half the price or less:)

I love these type of postings. It shows one thing and thats there are many GOOD solutions. Brand loyalty happens because there are good brands. Stihl vs. Husky? Can't go wrong either way.

I was faced with the same question but was luck enough to be able to run quite a variety of saws in an actual work environment before investing my dollars. After running husky 357's, 257's, 272's, aloong with a couple of Stihl's I went the boards for advice...and after all that I gambled. Bought a Husky 365 something NO one advised for.

Turned out to be a very good move for me. The 357 is a great saw and so is the 372. The 365 is better for me. It has more punch at low and part throttle conditions than the 357 by far. It doesn't beat me to death like the 372..I can run it all day (and do once a week or so along with my vintage saws). The husky's fit me ever so slightly better than the stihl's. Don't know why. Could be as simple as the color..just I felt more comfortable after a couple of hours on the husky's than a stihl. My bet is there are those who would say exactly the opposite.

Parts? I work for a municipality and they have several Husky's of all ages. Parts are absolutley no problem. Most are on the shelf at the local dealer..and the oddball parts are usually at the Syracuse area dealer. Never had to wait more than a couple of days. These saw get abused. If parts were even a hint of a problem they would be ditched for another brand. Many of my freinds and neigbors are in the logging business & therefore the local dealer carries Stihl, Husky and Echo. NONE of these folks have ever complained about parts from any of these three brands and I asked. My best freind has a couple of Stihls. One is an older 044. He fixes saws for other guys as long as its a Stihl....never had parts as an issue. Bottom line? Forget the part myth for the major brands.

Bottom line is there are many options that will work fine for you. Having a good dealer near by has to figure into the equation. Those prices posted are as good as any I have seen...now I have to get off line, drive up into the back 240 and cut with my Husky 365 and my Homelite Super XL die cast boat anchor that works great in the brush so I can put the Husky to work on real trees.

No luck with the sprocket yet. I hope I don't have to have one fabricated. I sure wish it wasn't a 'G'. :(
