Or send them all!
That would be nice... But expensive.

I'd save them all and build a business around them. Sell none.
I guess if it's "worked on" by a local guy who may or may not have a good reputation then I can see the reason for a discount. In the provincial classifieds there's a Husqvarna 576XP about 25 miles from here which has been listed for months. In the pictures it looks new. Every couple of weeks or so the seller drops the asking price a bit: last time I checked it was €450, which is insanely low for such a saw. Still no takers. Why?
The saw is "worked on", which is a worse turnoff than a mere scored piston here.
Call me unadventurous, misinformed or whatever but I tend to agree with local sentiment: a "worked on" saw needs to go down a long way before I'll buy it, and as soon as it's in my hands it goes back to stock, period. I don't care who worked on it, how well it has been kept or how low hours it is.
That's why I tend to keep out of all "modding" threads here.
Well you could just buy the 261 and let the others become spares lolHuh.... Less saws.....
I swear I must be on the wrong forum.
The Craigslist saw ads that I won't ever consider are that put new piston and cylinder. A) Almost certainly not OEM and B) Must diagnose what caused p&c damage in first place.I can sympathize with the sentiment.. I would shy away from a modified saw as well.
do the 241 and put a 16" bar on it. i use every inch on my stock 241 and no problems. felled and buck this ash with it. i did use a bigger saw to noodle some of it but only because of my bad back.Would you send to the spa out of these....
241, 362, 461 or 661.
My main runner is the 461, but the 362 has been getting some love recently. My log stash has started to decrease in diameter so Ive been letting the 461/25" bar sit. Also, the 461 may go bye bye when the 462 shows up at my dealer.
I know the 661 would be a riot to run if it was souped up, but the reality is I don't run it that much. Or would I if I sent it off..... This will also be a milling saw in the future.
I hear the 241 turns into a lunatic after being worked over, but I'm not sure if it would be enough to fall into everyday rotation.....
Or it could be someone liked tinkering with saws and purchased two builders and rebuilt from cases up with all oem!The Craigslist saw ads that I won't ever consider are that put new piston and cylinder. A) Almost certainly not OEM and B) Must diagnose what caused p&c damage in first place.

I see the logic. Talked to my dealer yesterday and his rep. said as soon as all his 461's are gone the warehouse in Gurdon, they would be sending some. He priced me his 461's at 850. out the door.IF there wasn't a chance of me getting rid of it for a 462, I think this would be the logical choice.... But I don't want to put the money into it and then trade it in/sell it.
That's a damn good price. Pick up a couple and stock them away as an investment.I see the logic. Talked to my dealer yesterday and his rep. said as soon as all his 461's are gone the warehouse in Gurdon, they would be sending some. He priced me his 461's at 850. out the door.
