I thought I'd give you guys a heads up. I'm taking a few months off from porting/working on saws. I've got a few in the pipeline right now, but after that, I won't be accepting new work for a while.

The reason for this is that I'm doing some pretty extensive remodeling here at home. I've already started finishing my 2000 sq ft basement. I'm desperately trying to finish the corner where my desk sets, since that's were I work my day job from.

I'm also going to be installing tile floors in my kitchen, both bath rooms, around the jacuzzi, and in the laundry room. Hardwood flooring will be going down in the hall, and new carpet on the stairs. We already finished painting all of the upstairs.

Here are a couple pics and a vid of the progress so far. BTW, this is my normally somewhat orderly "man cave". This mess is already driving me crazy!!!!!

Before moving in, the carpet went down and I painted the concrete walls. That made it usable. That was 5 years ago. Shortly after moving in, I put in all the electrical and lights. Then I started putting the R3 foam insulation up. I got most of that up and it sat for a few years. Now I'm moving on to the next step of finishing the walls. The ceiling will come at some later date.

you'd better warn the homeoner it'll be a heck of a mess...er,, scratch that.

if'n you was local. I'd trade for saw work. remodel contractor for 20+ yrs.

Good Start and it looks nice.
Might I suggest turning off the water heater so the dust doesn't draw up through the baffles and blower motor.
Only need to have it off until the dust settles at the end of each construction day.
I can't tell if the furnace gets its combustion air from outside or inside the house. The same would apply if it's only a single pipe flue vent.

Thanks for the tip. Sanding will be tonight or tomorrow.

That looks awesome. I've started my tool room off the side of my basement. Not finishing, just shelves, work bench etc. Can't wait to get my stuff in there this weekend. I know what your saying about the mess, I can't stand it either, as all my tools are currently out of the room I'm working in and on the basement floor  When I get it finished, I'll post some pics.

I haven't seen or thought about a Corsair in years. It was my favorite plane as a kid model builder.
Thanks for the smile.
Pappy Boyington !

btw..tile. my mantra: it's all in the layout.

but really, it's in the layout and substrate.

You got that right! I'm not working on a slap either. So that means thinset under screwed down concrete board, and then the tile. Take short cuts and you'll have cracked tiles with the grout falling out:( Fortunately, my Dad has a tile wetsaw too:clap:

i know how you feel, i still have to finnish my 2400 square foot adition on my house that i started 2 years ago, 1200 square feet of family room is 90% done, but the 1200 square feet of garage/man cave underneath is only about 45% done.....
the ambition is slowly comming back.
just dont forget that your family needs a father and husband more than your house needs to be finished
good luck brad, if i lived closer id come help.

Well,

from experience I can tell ya, You aint getting nothing done posting here!

did ya ever get your add on furnace ?? if so what did ya get..
or are ya still kikin that idea around ??

After talking to Lisa, my wife, I finally had to come to terms with the fact that I'm not as fit as I was a couple years ago. This Meniers Disease didn't disable me, but it sure slowed me down. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear you guys that know me laughing:). I'm still wired, lol, but I don't have near the endurance or stamina I once did. Yes, I hear you laughing again, lol. So I had to listen to better judgement and decided against the furnace. I would so love to heat with wood though. I've even though about going ahead with a cheap used stove, just to have something to burn wood in when I want to. But even the chimney alone is a significant investment.

having the right tools always helps my dad has a rotozip and a senco screwgun just like the one you are useing.

i cant wait to get a place of my own so i can do some remodling call me crazy but i enjoy it:dizzy: keep up the good work:cheers:
