Take a piece of sandpaper to it and smell.
Oak or cherry will have pretty distinctive smells.
Yep going to be hard to id the long dead, like real life LOL

My guess is black ash.

I currently have a lot of it in the pile/log yard and it looks just like that. Along with as mentioned how clean it split.





ETA - The top pile pic is all black ash and the bottom ones are black ash splits.
