Awesome dad! I have a two year old and he already comes up to me when I'm on my computer and says "see more chainsaws daddy". So I naturally go to youtube and start watchin chainsaw vids till he loses interest. I can't wait till he can help me with firewood.

Marc (I think?), this is one of the best threads :msp_thumbsup: that I've read on AS in quite a while. Thanks for posting it!

Yup, it's Marc.

Thanks for the comments from everyone!! I really had no idea how it was all going to turn out. That boy was walking at least a foot above the ground after we cut that red oak and brought it up for the rest of the family to see. Now he wants to know why I was muttering about "safety chain". When I explained it he said "Well why do they even make that stuff? Don't they know saws are for cuttin' wood? Why would you slow it down?" I may have ruined the boy...

How far are you from bentonville? My bro lives there and hes heading up here next week. I could send that saw back with him. And if you aren't that close, the shipping would be a lot cheaper shipping from his place in Arkansas to yours. HAPPY CUTTING, BIG MIKE

Bentonville is about a two hour drive from my house. I was over there two weeks ago for some training. I mentioned the saw to him and he says he'd be happy to help you out. In his "expert" opinion, you should make sure it doesn't have safety chain. He doesn't like that style. "These are wood-cuttin' machines!!" he says.

He's not really sure what to make of the whole thing. He's excited about the possibility of working on another saw, but not sure about why someone would just let him have it. He thinks it would be better to get it, fix it up (including a loop of non-safety chain) and send it back to you. He's not real busy at the moment so he gave an estimate of one to two weeks repair time plus shipping.

Things like this are why I love to be a dad.

I can send him a mini MAC with no spark. That should keep him busy for a while. :cool2:

Hey Marc, Im loving this! Showing the younger generations the joy of the great outdoors and getting these old saws running!
Personally I dont like the 330 much... Buuttt to each his own!
I think I have a Poulan 180, that needs a carb cleaning/ carb kit...
It has some of that useless saftey chain :dizzy:
Model Profile: 180

Tell him its his to keep, It would be a great first timer saw. (Although it doesnt have the chain brake :()

I picked up a mini mac this past summer at a fleamarket for for a couple of bucks and thought it would keep my 2 boys busy for a little while Jacob being 7 and Bradley being 11. Heck they were not out behind the garage for 5 minutes and I heard the dang thing fire up lol. All I could think was man I hope I yanked the bar off before I gave it to them because I could'nt remember. Their stood Bradley reving the he!! out of it with the bar and chain on it...I was glad that he has had his hands on a saw a few times before when it was running lol.

I always let both of them rev the saws up with out a bar and chain on it after I'm done working on them but they do get a little carried away with it.

It's funny when I get home from work and they will be on ebay or craigslist looking for a saw lol.

It's great to see other members on here that have kids that like saws also. Love these threads!

I can relate with this one to. Bradley had one with the dang cylinder yanked off before I paid any mind to him...then I made him put it back together:hmm3grin2orange:

Well Digger's dad, I sent some rep out to arkansas for you, because this was a awesome, and touching story. I like the little man's haircut too.

Awesme! I'm sure I know the answer to that one.

Dad, you should feel him out the next few weeks. Find out a saw he really desires and us AS members can see what we can come up with. At his age Im sure he likes them all.
