Across the bridge.
It's getting fire and gas, What could be wrong. It will burp about every 50 pulls. It worked fine when it was stored last. I always run the gas out of it and never store it with gas in it. This saw has had three coils put in it since new. It don't have probably 20 hours on it. But it is firing. I take the plug out and it's wet with gas.

it's fresh gas with 50-1 stihl ultra. I don't know what else to do. I just need the dern thing now. Any ideas i can try? What about the impulse line? I dunno. If i can't get it going it's gotta go to the shop soon.

I ended up with a MS250 when I bought my Poulan 4000 last year. It is a very tempermental saw and will easily flood and will not start if it has not done so after 3 pulls.

I find that if I pull the plug and let it dry out that it will then start. Once it is going keeping it that way is an entirely different matter. I sometimes think I would be better off with a Wild Thing...

I've tried that probably 20 times. The plug would be wet. But it still won't hit. I've even tried to start it without the choke and still no go. But it always has been tempermental like you said, But will usually start.

On these 50 pulls, is the choke on or off? I got a 210 that will pop only once on the 3rd or 4th pull. After that, if you leave the choke on, and pull one more time, it's flooded and you'll play hell getting it going at all. Do what Guido suggested and pull the plug, clean and dry, and start over. Let us know what you find.

These little #####es get flooded easy. I've turned them upside down and pull the starter to see fuel fly out of em. I agree with the let her dry out real good and maybe a new plug.

you may need a carb kit and readjust it. it may be set to rich cousin the flooding

That was my thought as well but he said it ran fine before storing. Or could it be the screws have turned due to vibs shortly before he stored it causing the need of carb readjustment?

Yup, I'm sure there's an explanation as to why. I just know to listen for just the faintest "pop", then it's no more choke. Don't care if it takes 6 or 7 pulls to get er' to idle... Just no more choke...:bang:

Should the carb need a kit with only about 20 hours? i have dried it out and tried it many times. Also have a new plug in it. It ran fine the last time it was used. I've tried startin it every kind of ways. I tried many times to start it like you do all stihls and tried no choke too. I tried readjusting the carb to specs. The H screw is set 3/4 turn and the LA screw was set about five turns, The book says 1 turn, so i put it there. The dealer set it at five turns. neither one work though.

if you pull the trigger it takes it off of fast idle. i dont know a lot a bought stihls but on huskys you need it on fast idle till it starts

These little Stihls should fire and idle without the fast idle. They are, however, a bit testy to get familiar with. Sure hope SS gets to the bottom of this.

Well i thank you guys, I checked all the linkage and everything and it all looks new. Then i decided to turn it upside down and try it. A lot of gas came out, So i shook it upside down for a little bit and put the plug back in and it popped on the first pull without the choke. I pulled it again and it started. Smoked bad for a little. Then i adjusted the LA screw till the chain stopped turning. It's running like it should now. Now i turned it upside down yesterday and nothing came out. All i can say to you guys is :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: The red elm tree probably won't like that it's running though.lol Thanks a million, what a great site and a great bunch of guys. Ya'll are the best.
