Here we go fellers......all this talk about which saw is the hottest in the 50cc bracket has me wondering if the 346XP can be unseated as the top dog in the class. In the interest of science we need to know. :msp_rolleyes:

This video comparison will be in the same piece of wood with the same square ground chain. The chain was ground by mdavlee and has not been modified.

Here in my shop we have a low hour Stihl MS261. It has been woods ported with the strato ports nullified. It's blowing 205 psi with a cut squish band. The muffler mod is all within the stock deflector and is fully screened.

Next we have a new 550XP. This saw is still fully stratified and autotune. I can't be 100% sure about it's compression because I don't have the correct gauge for the 10mm plug hole. With my Proto gauge and an adapter, it's blowing 165 psi which is about 30 psi low if I'm allowing for the adapter correctly. It has a cut squish band and is woods ported. The muffler mod is a welded on additional outlet and all openings are screened.

I also just so happen to have a nearly new woods ported Jonsered 2153 that is blowing 185psi with a cut squish band......it's had a little carb tweaking as well, but everything is from this saw. No different parts at all. The muffler mod on this saw is a larger welded deflector in the stock location and it is screened as well.

Now here's the times I got....

Stihl MS261:

7.94
8.16
8.31

Husqvarna 550XP:

7.81
7.68
7.90

Jonsered 2153:

6.94
7.00
7.03

Isn't the 2153 essentially the red color scheme of the 346? Either way great vids what are the time's on the 346? I own one and love it!

this is good it keeps everyone happy it don't matter which one ya like there all just as quick as one another in the real world :after_boom:

Randy,
I would be really happy to own any one of those saws.

PS. We're all glad to see you decided to wear your big boy pants.

By just watching the time on the bottom of the vid, I think they are VERY close. If anything, the 2153 was cutting in the 7's and the other two were in the 8's...that's very unofficial!!!

Any times on a stock 346? We know that a stock 50cc saw isn't going to beat the 346, now will a modified 50cc saw beat a stock saw and if so, by how much or if just barely?

DANG MIKE, that square is cutting pretty good, LOOOOONG chips were flying everywhere!

The best looking saw won!!!!

There you have it everybody!

This thread can now be closed - this is the only necessary post this thread needs!

It's not over til the fat lady sings and by god she just sang us her most beautiful song!

Wait. Did I just call you a fat lady....??

I've seen some stock 346s that were strong runners........but I don't have a stock one here. :(

Randy, does the 2153 have a regular 346xp carb, or a bigger one?

Soooo, just to bring it front and center. You had to totally alter the Stihl design to make it fast enough to come in last? :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
