Looks like 1-50 to me. I see a head gasket, so should be the real deal.

sorry for getting back late but some work had to be done. like where herose circled wipe the oil off and the rest of the number will show. i can make out a 50 so like every one else answered and by what mine looks like it's prob an1-50.
'

I cleaned the junk away and there is a faint 1-50. The "1" is about twice as large as the "50", and the "50" is just above "60" with some XX stamped over the "60". I can read "?-50" on the top cover, and comparing all the pics I've seen (I'm always a little cautious using Acres site) it is in fact a 1-50. I really don't have the time or money to invest in a proper rebuild of this thing and wouldn't ever get to use it if I did.

With spark and good compression is this a desirable or collectible saw? Keep in mind I understand value is relative and it's worth what someone is willing to pay. I'm just trying to get a feel for these older saws and what to look for when I see one. I'm a little slow, but I'll start to figure it out eventually.

Thanks for all the help.

I still don't know how he saw that in the picture...

If you have spark and compression, all that is left is an HL kit and possibly a couple of fuel lines. HL kits are easy to come by, DG5 should be less than $10 and included the gaskets and diaphragms. If you need either fuel line (in the tank, or tank to carburetor just send me a PM with your name & address and I can get them on the way.

That is not a saw you would care to run all day, but would be a great piece for conversation and to wake up the Euro's at a GTG. Non running would be less than $50, a runner should still be less than $100 and I am being generous.

Thanks for the information. And the kind offer! I can't imagine wanting to run it for more than a few minutes. My back and shoulders wouldn't bear the load too well.

I've never met you but have seen enough of your posts to recognize you as being one of the more knowledgeable people on these old Macs. Have you ever seen a 10-10 with a battery powered starter? I seem to have acquired one, minus the battery and one or two pieces. The starter is on the opposite side from normal.

McCulloch made three electric start models, 3-10E, 5-10E, and 10-10E.

The 10-10E in the photo above is missing the battery box, but McTodd sent me one along with a few other electric start saw pieces.

I have been looking for a 5-10E to complete my set of the E series.

If you needed a 10-10 E or a 1-50 I could fix you right up. I haven't figured out what the rest are yet. Several 10-10 varieties, including one with the recoil on the opposite side from normal. It doesn't look like any of the "e" models I've seen. The recoil and clutch cover are both on the same side. Any ideas?

Post pics, we can identify it....hopefully

Username Change

Kyle, assuming you can read this, and assuming further, that you will be released from camp once again, I suggest yet another new user name for you - promacbanned - unless you can stick with chainsaws and avoid wherever it is you go that gets you repeatedly banned. Ron

I think he holds the record here on AS.

Looks like young Kyle is on a 2 month camping trip this time. It's really a shame, I like to see him over here, learning and enjoying McC stuff. He's just got a really bad combination of opinionated and angry made worse by lack of a "filter" to keep everything above board. He REALLY needs to stay the heck out of about everywhere except this thread, but especially the Political forum.

If he could channel all that aggression into working on old Macs, he'd probably have a collection rivaling Mark's before long.

sounds like the big kahuna stepped in and left him behind a dumpster crying..

Any recomendations for an affordable first Mac? I am more of a collector of old pioneers and homelites, but I figure I have to have an old mac in my collection. I am not worried about useability, stihls are my users, but my love is the 50s-60s classics, they sit on a shelf restored, and only really come out for shows.

For 1950's and 60's you have many options.
In the 50's i like the model 49, 73 and 77.
As for 60's saws the whole world is open. Many
models to choose from. From 80cc's up to 123cc's.
I prefer the larger Mac's but they are always a bit
more money. The smaller saws can be had for way
less. Often under 100 bucks. Every collector needs
a Super 250 and possibly a nice geardrive like a
650, 660, or the big brother 840, 890, 895. There
are many others models to choose from as well.
If you into the big cc saws then you have the 797,
Super 797, CP125 and SP125 they are all 123cc's
Choice is really up to you.

A good chunk of my collection is in the 5ci range, so It would nice to have something fit in there. I also quite like the look of their 33/35 series small gear drives, what is a fair price for one of those? There is a big swap meet local in june (like 2 acres of old automotive and tools, tons of saws), so I would like to have an idea of reasonable prices.
