stihl ms 660, or ms 440?

I will be cutting mainly oaks, 2 feet or more in diameter. I have the 039 with 20" and it does very good on a sharp chain but its getting old and i don't like having to go on both sides to finish my cut. I was told my saw was big enough for what i do BS!!! if it was then why does it start smoking when im cutting big oak?
The 440 is nice but its not a lot bigger then the one im running now. I wish they had a 550 or something in the middle?
Anyway im thinking of running a 28" bar and i know the 660 will cut my time by a lot and we all know time= money and we all like money.
IS THE HEATED CARB WORTH it no HEATED HANDLES. and the wrap handle?
im going to be felling and bucking mostly but theirs always that 5% of low stump cutting that i would need the flush handle. Im debating to get it or just buy it after and change it if i need 2.
Im just wondering if i really need this big of a saw, i know i want it.

660. no question. i personally have no need for the heated handles. as for wrap handles... if you are cutting from the clutch side, they are sweet. the ms 650 is cheaper and a half horse less, and when its time for a new top end for it, you can put a 660bb kit on it for big power for little dollars.

This should do it. By comparison to the costs of a 660 and this 090, why not go huge?

Don't know how your winters are up there. For this area of PA, I would probably pass on the heated handles.

24" + oaks and cutting down the stumps. Yup, 660 should work.

For 24" Oak, I'm not sure that is enough!!! I think I'd have to get an 880!!!!

Funny, I can gobble up 24" Oak with the 350, and the 046 is just fun.

I said 2 feet AHAHAH i could cut my house in 1/2 with 1 swipe!!! I would be scare to walk through the woods with that might lose my 3rd leg.

Love the Both post, but i see the 660 is my choice. And in a year or 2 ill pick up the 440. My local dealer has one on the showroom with flush handle and no heated grips. Ill just buy the wrap handle and put it on later if i fined i need it.

uhhhhhh there is the MS441, the MS460, and the MS650. The 650 is just a bit less powerful than the 660, same weight, but less $$.

I have an 066BB(or two) for the mill, but would like to try a 460.

If you're open to other brands, there are the Husqvarna 385xp, 390xp, 395xp, Jonsered 2186(Husky 385), Dolmar 7900, and Solo 681.

A 660 is a great saw and all the saw you'll need and more for what you are talking about. And get all that stuff (heated handles and carb) I got it on my 395 XPG and it works great when it's really cold.

Stihl only because I have 3 of them and never have a problem. Also 660 has the most used avalible parts. I have money for a good Pict of equiptment and it will last 10+years and pay for itself in a season.

I think a 660 with a 28" bar would be a good big wood saw. Not the fastest but a good saw never the less.

Why is the saw smoking in the cut? That doesn't sound right. Only times I have seen smoke either the oiler stopped working or the chain was dusted. Even cutting dry oak you shouldn't see smoke. There will be more dust with the chips, but no smoke.

The 660 is a fine saw, once you body gets used to the weight. I'm pretty strong but the 660 still found some new muscles.
