got new crank bearings which one goes where and how the dealer said he could not provide me with instructions on this

the flywheel side bearing fell apart now im stuck with the outer ring in the case how or can i get this thing out thanks chris

i may have annoyed Andy in one of my last posts (hope i didn't and im sorry if i did) why don't you go ahead and give me a quick low down?

I'll wait..I got one ex and that's enough arguing for anybody

Did the bearing have the metal cage or the plastic? and did it come apart when you pulled the crank or is the outer race broken?

the inner race slipped out with the shaft and i had little balls fly everywhere and the outer race stayed in the case and the seal stuck to the flywheel by saying cage are you talking about the piece that holds the balls together or the piece the whole bearing sits in? thanks Chris

The piece that holds the balls in place....do you see and pieces of metal in the case anywhere?
It is most likely plastic but some were not

no i split the case and i have cleaned the hell out of it the race was metal and there is about 1/16th of an inch of space behind the race

i have oxy. ace. and propane i have access to mapp i also have an old toaster that i use for garage stuff

Are you good with flame control on the O/A? You would have to move quick

I use MAPP because it is handy and just the right amount of heat for expanding the magnesium without heating the bearing race
Propane is not hot enough

Once the mag is warm you will be able to get the race out

mag melts around the same temp as aluminum so you get an idea and it does not conduct the heat as fast as aluminum

You also have some other options- You can weld a bolt inside the race and use the bolt to pull the whole thing out after it has cooled, or you can arc weld a bead around the inside of the race and then it'll pull out when it cools, be sure to set the case half on a surface where the race can drop out. I've also used a small cut off wheel on my dremel and cut the old race into two pieces which fell out after the second cut.

It gets nice and easy after you heat the magnesium
They are not that tight

I also have used an internal expanding puller to pull them

I know techs that purposly stick MIG wire to them and them heat the case and pull on the 2 or three wires

I don't use that method but it works

i tried cutting it and found that this thing seams to be welded to the case am i screwed or do i just need a lot of patience?

You cut through the race or cut close?

If it cut through and heat does not loosen it that does not sound good

Any possibilty of some pics?

ill try to get some picts i was pounding on it gently and managed to crack out a piece of the race i cut close i could not get all the way in with my cut off tool in the dremel this thing is stuck i may go get the mapp gas in try to heat it out
