044, ms441 and ms461.

Hi guys, been a minute since I posted. Life and work shenanigans lol. Hopefully I put this in the right forum.

While scrolling fb marketplace I came across this ad for a 044 red lever, a 441 and a 461. All 3 for $550

Guy states the 044 runs great. The 441 has carb issues or an air leak. The 461 he doesn't know but was told it runs.
I did ask if he knew the history on the saws, he said the 044 was a landowner while the 441 and 461 were commercial but he says he trust the guy he bought them from and he said they weren't used very much. All three were sitting for awhile in a barn, the 441 and 461 are rather dusty.
He also said compression is good on the saws.
The 044 and 441 have bars/chains.

Now, from what I've gathered so far it seems worth a shot. Going Sunday to look at them.
Gonna do a inspection on them, take the muffler off and check the piston/cylinder.

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?
Any experience with these saws in particular?
And any thoughts/suggestions for things to look into if I get the saws to get them running?

Besides looking at P/C through muffler, bring some fresh mix, dump the gas in the tanks, give the carbs a shot, and see if they pop/run a bit.

I worked on chainsaw weed whackers The worst for me . A broken flywheel key on a Stihl weed Wacker. You can not buy. A easy replacement . A new 60 dollar flywheel will fix it . I gave up on this brand. What I thought was best. I ran Stihls for about 7 years. I switch to Husqvarna in 1988. I never realized to make a truck load of firewood. I never had to F around to fix a saw. With the Stihls was a event . What part is going to shack apart first the carb or muffler. I ran Stihls from 1981 to 1987 always some breakdown. I got a 50 Husqvarna in 1988 and what joy. Go to the woods get firewood and just do the job . No break down after break down. Just get firewood go home enjoy the heat and nice meal.

Three great saws for $183 each. Well worth the risk I think.

A fair warning, the MS441 is a very difficult saw to work on. If you like a challenge it can take a first timer upwards of 3hrs to pull the cylinder.
That being said they are incredibly smooth and strong. 1 of my favorite saws.

That's what I thought! I figured the 044 is worth almost that much by itself.

A fair warning, the MS441 is a very difficult saw to work on. If you like a challenge it can take a first timer upwards of 3hrs to pull the cylinder.
That being said they are incredibly smooth and strong. 1 of my favorite saws.

That i have heard. It'll be my first ms441 but not my first saw to work on. I've heard mixed opinions but most say they're reliable.
