Dave,
I would be a bit leary with that case if you are going to use it. It looks like the crank is full of rust. I would soak it for a long time to make sure the bearing is good on the rod.

It too bad that right side of the case is broken. Thats really what I need. I have plenty of lefts and good cranks. I take them down all the way anyway and start with new bearings, seals ect. Thats the great thing about the 1111's is you can get the parts!!!! Just let a trashed 090 slip away this am for 400$. I guess I need that like a hole in the head :)

I found a TS760 from a "fire sale". This saw was burned, but not badly. So Im going to bring the Leviathan back from the ashes. Anybody see anything "special" about this saw? :)IMG_0640.JPG

I know it looks very bad,... but,.. look at the tabs on the front of the saw. Yup! It was converted from an 076 OR they made a dual purpose right side case. It does not appear to have been converted (no caked sawdust inside) and there is very little silica slurry on the saw (low hours). It has the oiler plug (front) plunger plug on top and oil paths to bar inner plate and bar adjust cutout!! Also original jug and piston with wicked compression I could not pull it over without using the decomp (but I did have a good dose of oil in the case just to get things lubed after sitting so long) and although the spark plug wire is toast, it still has spark!!! It had some hay inside the covers which means I think it was a working saw that got crispy in a shed fire and then tossed in a barn corner somewhere and sat for a long time. I think its got some great potential!

Real one?

Same price for a phony one and you'd have it by now, plus one for the smaller goofy clutches and one for the 041 as well if ya went for the set. Hell, my Stihl dealer lets me borrow his. Think his came from China, too. Your dealer doesn't even have one? What's wrong with him? Hasn't he heard of Huztl or ebay?

Ive never used one. I think its better to give it an swift impact than a slow torque anyway to dissemble but thats just me. I think if I really wanted one I would have just welded up something.

A broken spider costs about the same to replace as the tool..., which I'd need anyway after breaking the spider as would likely be the case for me with my luck. And yeah, if I could only weld (and had even a small little rig) I'd be downright dangerous.

I work on other people's saws quite a bit, so don't want to be paying for new parts that I actually break while trying to fix something else on em, but that's just me!

Interesting I've never broken one. I've seen pics of broken ones but assumed they were broken during usage. I used to mill and have done maybe 30-40 times in my life. The stubborn ones that come in on the new Junkers I hit with parts blaster and a heat gun at 1100 deg. Just enough to wake it up. I have a special punch with an l shape to spread the load and I go from leg to leg with a quick light rap. It doesn't take much. I think it's 40#'s offhand with the rust factor additionally. If you can see straight you can weld. 99$ for a cheapo wire feed welder and your off and running. I sold my bobcat welder when I sold the farm . Anywho if that dealer takes any longer I'll make you one!

The only vendor I saw on Ebay is a big seller who has personally lied and stolen from me, I know others have had good experiences with him/them but I am pretty sure they are now under investigation as well in a newspaper article for dealing in stolen property. I can wait and I don't want the other tools so I am not tempted to start acquiring saws just so I can use the tools, I am mental sometimes. I have enough new projects to keep me busy for quite some time :)
