Dave do you need my address to help unload of few of those creamsickles?
The clutch removal tool is very helpful. It will also work on some of the older mag saws too.

got the call about 1/2 before they closed to day that my clutch tool arrived with a bunch of OEM pistons, of course I was too busy to go get it, but there is always tomorrow
Spent about 6 hours sorting saw parts by series. I think all the 019, ms180, ms250, 028, MS290, 038/super, 024/26, 034/36, MS361 piles will be headed out before long.
I also found a cover for the 075 pawl type tank I have, but I still like the old style better

It sounds like I might need to make that 4 hour tour south and come see you.

Well if he doesn't want it I,ll certainly give you fair price for it ;-) Towing ace I'll go measure your ball now, B

Ok, I came up with 4.00mm or .1575 in for the steel ball at the end of the spring. On Assembly I just dab it in a spot of grease and insert it into the hole to help it stay in place :)
I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I checked in on this thread! I haven't received one single alert to any posts on here since Jan. 24. I've been thinking that's real odd.

Thank you, for coming up with that measurement, Rocky. Also, thanks Dave, for your offer. My tablet won't open the pic, but from what I could gather, it's an 051 case 1/2.

I got the oiler kit from the UK, but, before I can take that saw apart, I need to be gettin' something put together here. This old Homie 800 is intruding on my 051's bench space.

Is the case gasket available for the 1111's, or do ya have to make 'em?

You may be able to find 'em, but if they're NOS they may be very brittle if they're the older style material. Ran into that problem with three separate NOS gaskets on a recent 045 rebuild and ended up with a home brew cut out of .019 gasket material. Felt much safer doing that than just gooping up one of the brittle ones and crossing my fingers!

I never thought about NOS ones being brittle. Sounds like I better plan on making one.The last one I made, was for an Echo 452vl & I couldn't find material the right thickness. I ended up making it out of a paper grocery bag with a thin layer of Hylomar on both sides. It was very time-consuming.

Hey Poge, this is a 051/076 thread, so it would be a DERAIL if I asked if you still have that 702vl that I was readin' about in the archives.

the 1111 series gaskets are available, all of them and the 2 seals for 20$, I just bought 3 sets. The leviathon is beautiful inside, piston and jug perfect. Old style ignition that will go on flea bay. Got another hunk of junk 076 with just about everything wrong with it. Coming to a crossroads here. Do I spend the 70$ and buy the flawless timesert or jbweld/butter and helicoil? My gut tells me to do the right thing. After a helicoil fails what options do you really have? Thing that stinks is my latest 076 came in with loose jug nuts. I thought shet I never seen that one before, yup the case was helicoiled and the jug rods had pulled out of one side of the case. No wonder she leaned out and seized up like my ex wife. Now I need 2 sets of timeserts, 140$,.... arrrrrrrrgh time for dinner and a movie, saws are not selling anyway. Everybody's tight with thier cash but spring will come,... someday,.... only 140 inches of snow here we could use some more for asthetics. At least my snowblower repairs are booming, lol!

finally stole an hour in the garage and made a little progress on my baby

a little cheater bar action and the clutch spun free, I further stripped it down until the oil pump decided to be a miserable bitch :(

IMG_6069_zpsasqy65x8.jpg

I threaded the bolt in and turned gently by hand until I heard a little snap/pop/crack like when a crew finally breaks loose but instead it fell out with the pump still in the crankcase (yes I had already removed the snap ring)
so now I have to figure how to get it out of there, I think I have other pumps but I want to split and use this crankcase

parts on the deck to send for powder coating with crankcase halves

parts I still need to acquire - these are just too beat to use

and a couple of questions - any body here enjoy rebuilding a carb? I loath the experience, I have an HS60B and carb kits and cash if someone has a passion and inclination, send me a PM

Is there anything to recommend a lined or unlined clutch over the other type? I think I have both for the 075 in nice condition.

Thanks to all

Hey Dave! Yes progress is excellent! Next time you do the oil pump thread the screws in about 6 turns and the use a large screwdriver and pry it out using the cap of the screw and the case. You may be able to rotate the pump enough to get needle nose pliers on the 1/2 threads left and give it a good yank. If that doesnt work maybe you can pop the seal out and carefully push the worm of the pump sideways and out. Also the is a brass plug on the opposite end. Maybe it unscrews or you could drill it out enough to get a roll pin in their and push it out. Then fix the plug or replace. Its not the end of the world. As far as the clutch's go, I just dont know. Im not a logger. Maybe someone else has more insight on that. Myself I like the friction shoes but the do wear and they are 40 years old and might chip or flake off. I think the metal ones might be better as the wear on the drum but those are only 10$ and I dont think youll ever wear one out, a logger might. That case is in great shape. Ususally the bottom of the bar, stud, flat support area is chewed up and sometimes gone by guys running loose chains or chains coming off during use. If you think about it that clutch is throwing the chain right at it and is chain is even a little loose it will rub there. If you come across any stripped screws I found the perfect affordable solution. Waaaaay better than helicoil thanks to Brad S. Good to hear from you, we love pics!!!

you can grab another pump for 25$.

Also can drill into center of pump from front. Tap and insert screw then pry out using procedure mentioned before. I forgot that you dont buy from him. I have one I can barter with you, its an option. After looking at my cases I think this is your best option. Pump may be re-usable also.

Glad to see you guys are making headway. I'm kinda bummed, the last body part I needed for mine is gone. The fella in New Hampshire had a REALLY NICE lower handle support / shroud. I'm sure it came off the same 760 as the super clean recoil assy. I got from him. I've been watching it for weeks, but didn't have the money for it. I went to order it this week & it was gone! It's my own fault, I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. He actually had two of them, but the real nice one was the same price as the other one. They're both gone, the only one still on there, is an NOS one for 3 times the price. I messaged him, but he doesn't answer. That's my whine for the day.

wow I just took a quick look and they are all gone except for the new one. Dont worry they pop up like rabbits, I'll keep an eye out for you ;-)

Dave did you get the oil pump out? Towingace I just bought a lot of the 4mm balls, I'll send you one when they come in. Or do you need 2 in case you lose one ;-) lol!!! Ive been rebuilding snowblower motors lately, saws are not selling. I'm not giving them away!!!! Ive got 3-400$ into these babies before a weeks worth of time and efforts!! Man this winter is getting lonnnnnnnnng! Dave I could still use a 076 short block if you have any you want to part with! Hope everyone is doing well!
