no idea.... I've never had and 066 that needed anything other than what came in the 066/64 (same set) gasket set (both gaskeks are are included).

Yours is pre-mid 1999 - smaller oil tank.

Tech Note 52.1999

3. Crankcase (066)
Crankcase 1122 020 2103 will be replaced by
crankcase 1122 020 2113 from serial number
1 45 500 383. The oil tank capacity in the new
crankcase has been increased to 360cc (12.2fl.oz)
from 315cc (10.6fl.oz). This increase ensures that a
certain amount of chain oil is always left in the tank.

Service note:
Always use gasket 1122 029 0507 when using crankcase 1122 020 2113

hmmmm, didn't know there was a difference in the cases..... (newer style big cranks)

Brad, what gasket set # you using? They used to be diffeant numbers, but the last time I ordered a 066 gasket set, it came with a new number...one kit for both old and new. I've got that number at will work. I just don't remember it if had both case gaskets.......

SN is 140302964. The gasket kit I've used twice now was 1122 007 1053. It has everything for both the 064, 066, and 660 except for the shorter case gasket.

So now what we've found is that there are three 066 cases. The original with the smaller crank and metal flywheel, the same case with the larger bearing and crank, and the longer 660 case with the larger oil tank.

Found? :monkey:

Can't find what wasn't lost!

and no... not "longer 660". The change in the oil tank was 3 years before the 066 changed to a 660.

Found for me and Steve:cheers:

yup...

I still wouldn't call the pre large 066/660 case the same as the metal flywheel case. Differant case that just happens to use the same gasket....guess that is what the 2nd gasket is for....... lol

O.K.... here's the gasket set details.

All in the ipl... If you have a saw up to to 145500382 you need gasket kit 1122 007 1051. If you have a saw later or equal to 145500383 you need 1122 007 1053.

There was a transition period when both case gaskets were included.

Crap now Im Cornfused!!!!!! LO(LOLOL!!!!!!

you too!!!

All these guys that get to read the tech notes, bullitens, and scts of god didn't let us know there was another 066 varient out there..........

I was seriously under the impression that all 066's with the poly flywheel were identical to a ms 660, minus some carb jets and limiter caps over the years....

I've gotta go have a beer to calm down now....... J/K

was that the 1052 set? for some reason that rings a bell and had basically two complete gasket sets....one old, one new. if you played your cards right you could rebuil an 064 and a ms660 from the same set.....both sizes of seals, differant base gaskets etc.

The moral of the story is, make sure you know which case gasket you need when ordering you parts or you may be set back a couple days like me when the gasket in the kit doesn't fit.

All you need it the serial numebr and the latest ipls! and read the friggin' tech notes! All of them... Seriously.. an IPL is only valid in conjunction with the tech notes...

Must have been.. but the 1053 still has the extra seal BUT NOT BOTH case GASKETS.. LOLOLOL Price is the same....
