Im sending my 088 back on friday, so i picked it up today at my new dealer.
He had an 084 good shape and he will put his name on. My ???? is that is an 084 the same power? same RPM? faster then an 660? how long before you cant get parts? and will it cut though 50" hard woods?. I like the power of my 088 and its sure fun playing with it. I would like to know if you seen people put pipes on it and mod the cylinders. Plus is 700 bucks for it a good deal?

thanks alot again for all your help.

Brian is such an nice guy to deal with....really cheap on the price and really good service.

Agreed, as will the rest of the members here who buy from him.

Ive seen that 084 you are talking about, almost bought it for my mill. If hes still got it and you have the $700, snatch it up.

It mite be an week or so but if its gone its gone....I shouldnt of said how much ohwell..

04 you are going to make poor ole 310 break out the plastic to get that 084 before you arn't you. :hmm3grin2orange:

Back to the topic.. It's about a 1/2 hp less then the 088... Good saw, no issues with getting parts (other than the $$)... Make sure the clutch and oiler work well - there are a couple of different versions. We just sold one in perfect condition, new piston, new 41 inch bar and chain for $1000+tax.

Speed in the cut? an 066 willl beat it medium wood, but in big wood, the 084/088 pulls way ahead... Milling? no comparision... but make sure you detune it..

So, you enjoy playing with your 088? Is this the same saw that you bought on eBay and are sending back to the seller? The same saw that the pistion is junk in, has leaking crank seals and the cylinder has been honed? With all the negative press surrounding your eBay 088, you assuming the P/C is bad, everyone here adding fuel to your fire, and your dealer telling you the saw needs $450 in parts - send it back and buy my 084 sounds sketchy to me. I am not siding with the seller, but I am surely not siding with you. Maybe you 'playing with the saw' is what caused some/all of the damage? Then you ask about the capabilities of an 084, about modding cylinders and running tuned pipes. This all leads me to believe you are in over your head. I am all for asking questions and learning as you go - that is how we all figured it out. BUT, it sounds to me like you ought to stick with your MS-310 for a while!

Well your kinda rude! I ran about an half an tank though the saw (the 088)
YEa I pretty dumb about engines and dont know any thing.... What a jerk.

I didnt assume the p/c was bad it was bad, there was chunks missing out of the cylinder the piston was scored.

See people like you make this site some times not so fun. You dont

Yea my MS-310, I would have an lot more money if I only had that saw.

Well thanks guys for the help on this, I think about going over there tommorow and picking it up.... So is 700 to much?
