I have read some comments in this forum regarding mix ratios for fuel and 2-stroke oil. I have been told in the past that mixing rich tends to foul plugs, but I am curious as to your opinions on this, and thoughts on benefits.

In my present Stihl, I have always mixed as per instructions on the container.
Also, is there anything to this winter weight bar oil concept?

Also.... after having reasoned through the matter, and considering the great dealer I have here, I am buying the 044 Stihl with a 24 inch bar, and not the 372XP Husky that was the other contender, much to the chagrin, I am sure, of the Husky fans here.

thank you....

Bigsnowdog,

It would be a dull world if we all liked the same tings, or worse yet, there were very limited choices. You made a good choice.

I mix my 50:1 formulated saw brand oil (Jonsered) at about 36:1, but most of it is shop mix and I'm putting it in new saws as a breaking aid.

Yes there is winter bar oil available here. It pours more easily in the cold.

Bigsnowdog, You will not foul more plugs at 32:1 than you would at 50:1 as long as your carb is set right. I run my stihl trimmer at 32:1 and have since it was new4 years ago. I have never changed a plug.

As far as bar oil goes. When I cut in the winter I usually just leave my oil jug in my truck to keep warm. I have never had a problem doing this. That being said I just picked up a jug of stihl winter bar oil a few days ago. Same price as the regular stuff and I dont have to worry about it getting cold.
