Ah, but I suppose there's always the "The worst day out in the hills is still better than the best day back in town" thing

Talking 200T's, here's some vids of a 12" bush setup, a contract pruning saw. Stock engine running a walbro non-accel pump( ie - non problem) carb off an 023, muffler restrictor removed, 1/4" 7 tooth sprocket.

Pic is of a typical pine forest in NZ, the trees are around 6 years old in the pic. The 020T/200T's are the standard No 1 choice pruning saws here

Could you give me some more details on that carb swap, I'm very interested!

Parr, most any WT walbro carb will work fine, their parts are all interchangeable, I've also used a walbro carb from a mini-mac and other WT carbs from unknown models on the 200T. It's a simple enough matter of swapping in the original 200t/020T(walbro) throttle/butterfly and choke shafts which have the right linkage position.

I used an 020T carb on my 335 husky by swapping in the huskys shafts and carb lid to the 020T carb and plugging the 020T carbs' impulse hole. The huskys impulse connection being on it's lid instead. I ditched the 200T's troublesome dodgy accel pump carb and used the 020T carb throttle shaft on the 023 carb.

The 023 carb had a primer connection too but I just plugged the hole. If keen enough you could bung in another hole/grommet in the 200T's fuel tank and incorporate a primer bulb too, but 200T's start easily without that anyway, and primers with their hoses are just more clutter.

But if your original 200T carb is a zama, then it's shafts won't be any use coz the zama shafts are a tiny bit fatter in diameter than the walbro ones. Over there in the States it'd be easier to just buy a new carb if the original is dodgy, down here it's different and you've gotta make your own stuff up, a new walbro carb is over $400 quoted here from from rip-off stihl

Wow that's pricey for a carb. And I thought it was expensive here in Canada, at $140, USA is the cheapest. Thanks for the info.

parrisw, ever consider putting a rear handle on that 200t? I finally got around to using my ms200, bought it during the winter and modded the muffler. I was in heaven limbing a decent sized maple yesterday, 16" bar burried no problem, light as a feather, and the sound... I love it. Your work looks great too. my 192t with muff mod couldn't touch it, not in a million years, although it is peppy with the 12" bar.

Yes I have thought of it. I'd love one, but the dam price to convert is outrageous!!!!!!! Maybe one day I'll find a scrapper and rebuild it.

Will

Yes it is pricey. BlSnelling did a conversion, but he got the darn thing free to begin with. I got lucky with mine, picked it up from a guy for $225. It wasn't working right, just needed carb adjusted and adjustable oiler turned up. Only used saw I havn't had to buy parts for. The rear handlers don't pop up on ebay too often.

FREE:monkey: Now who in the heck would get a 200T for free????

LOL. Umm, oh ya, I have. This one was free as the last one too, from a gracious member here.

Ok, vids uploading right now. Of the ported one, and my bone stock low time saw, same bar and chain, same wood. Nothing techinical here at all, just a comparison. All in all, it was a fun build to do and see what can be done with these, I think I could still take it a little further, but these things get used so hard I'm not sure I would want to, I tach'd it at 14,500, and I think the carb I got in it is a little dodgey so I think it'll run better with a new carb, it feels like it has a little more torque then the stock saw, I can lean on it a little more and it'll hold is rpm's better, is it worth it?? Well if someone had to pay me or someone else to do it, its probably not worth it to mod one of these since the gains are very minimal. Pull the spark screen and keep a sharp chain is all these need I think, they are very powerful saws stock for their size. Probably be a couple hours till the vids are done uploading, they are kinda large in size.

Will- keep me in mind also if you come across an extra 020T/MS-200T. I'm gonna be doing some climbing later this year and would like to have a nice top handle saw ready to go.

Here is the ported one. Stocker is uploading now.
