I just put a new top end on a 2100 Husky today. What a pleasure to work on, compared to some others.

Incidentally this failure was from scorched on carbon on exhaust side vs a dry clean lack of lube type of failure. They said they had ran a lot of about 25 to 1 mix thru it. I think I got em going to 40 to 1 now. You can only bring some of these people up 2 or 3 decaded in one jump.

Mike, not a lot. Done one 181 and one 2100 lately.

The muffler looked O.K. The screen had been taken out. The old cylinder had quite a few fins broken off at the top front. I don't understand how that happened without ruining the cover, unless the cover was replaced early in the saws life. This saw didn't really have a lot of hours on it. They were on their second bar in about 18 years.

It did not occure to me that the failure might be due to exhaust. It looked more like to rich of oil mix over a long period.

I think the loggers around here have several 2100 laying around in various states of damage, as they do Stihls, and Dolmars (There used to be an active Dolmar dealer)

Tony,

I need a muffler for a 2100. Do you have a used one? Also do you know what the interior design of that muffler is? I am having a hell of a time removing the one from my saw. I removed the bottom 2 bolts and cut the heads off the top 2 bolts. Then I drilled them out till they are through the front of the muffler casting. The thing it still FROZEN solid to the cylinder/headless bolts. I have been heating/PB Blasting/ Tapping w/hammer/Prying and still it only moves the slightest bit. Any insight would be great.

Thanks,

GeorgeW
