Just thought I would post a few pictures of the three saws I was cutting with today. The big boy in front is a Homelite 7-21C [48" bar] from the late 50s, the middle saw is a Stihl 048 AV [36" bar] from the mid 80s, and the new firewood saw a Husqvarna 455 [20" bar].

Question

Congratulations for good saw maintenance!. On your three generations of saws, are there any features that you like on the older saws that you wish were present on the newest saw?

Low end torque with less regard to chain speed. Man the Homelite cannot be stalled out! The 048 still does really well when digging in a stump and it blows our 440 work saw out of the water.

How does that 455 work for you????

For what is was designed for it cuts like a charm. I even used it to rip two 8 foot long maple logs into cants that were 26 inches DBH. It worked but it is way to much for a small 55 cc saw.

I have cut two cords of wood with it and fell close to 30,000 feet of pine with it and have had no troubles.
