hi been a while Hockey games
Leafs are given them hell,

Any way, iam have a hard time getting .404 .058 gage chain , skip, dealer say go down to 3/8" chian.

I have been running 404 on my big saws just wanted to now what ever one else is running (395/394 xp)

I know we still sell .404 63 guage chain. Must be made by someone as the harvesters are using it. Stihl only has .063

actualy the chain i got was sthil chain .

I got 4 loops 404, 58 100 dl and 108 dl. where my account is only deals in sthil products. so it was a special oder.

The husky dealer would have to oder it in also , he only had 3/8.

The way I understand it is this, Stihl and Husqvarna can't agree on .058 chain because to do so would be admitting the other company had a good idea. You would think two worldwide companies would be more mature but this is not the case. Stihl used to sell .058 chain but has discontinued it (info from the Stihl bar and chain catalog).

Hi there, Stihl still makes 404., 058, model # 45RSF, Rapid Super Full Skip, Oregon equivilent 51JP. They make the same in 1.6 mm.
If your 1.5mm bars (.058) are worn enough they may easily accomidate 1.6mm (.063) chain as there is only 5 thou. difference. You can also use 1.5 mm chain in a 1.6mm bar if the the bar is new or has seen little use.

P.S., 45RSF may only be available in Canada if Stihltech says he cant get it in the United States, but it is listed in the Canadian catalogue, and then again so is square ground chisel chain, but I cant get it.
