But was it really oiling more or just throwing more off the tip (low tack content)?

Exactly. A thinner oil doesn't increase the displacement of the pump.

On that note, I do thin my Stihl orange bottle bar oil with diesel fuel for those cold days.

I had the 5100s, 026, and 55 husky side by side in the front of the bed. Ten miles later the 026 and 55 hadn't moved and the 5100s was upside down against the tailgate. No biggie, I'll just strap it in the front seat using that special Dolmar chainsaw seat. Right!

Another five miles and the Stihl and Husky would have thrown the Dolmar out of the truck.
Yep you better keep those saws apart.

Go to a secound hand shop and get yourself a bowling ball bag, I herd they make a great case for those Dolmars.:hmm3grin2orange:

Oh now a 5100s is faster then a 440 and a speeding bullet.:hmm3grin2orange:

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I just started and used my new 5100S for the first time this afternoon. It 'popped' on the fourth pull, I released the choke and it started on the next pull.

Wow - what a wonderful saw this is. Fast and smooth as silk. Well balanced with the 18" bar. Can't wait to get out to the woods with it! The 011AVT gets relegated to limbing duty.

It smokes a 440??? Maybe in 8 inch wood, but that's just chain speed...

200psi???? longevity may be an issue...

Am I missing something?

More like 12 to 14in. stuff. I don't even pull out my EHP372xp till the wood gets over 20in. Big Dave modded my 5100, running .325 RS chain w/18in. bar.

Smart man there ole boy, your 100% correct. I got a 5100 and a 044. In "soft" small wood, 10 inch or less ,the 5100 may give the 044 a run for its money. Anything bigger and or harder that 044 is gone while the 5100 is still thinking what to do. I like the 5100 alot, mean little saw for no bigger than it is but I'm gonna have to sell it. Yup, it rolled over in the truck the other day, thats it, its gotta go,LOLOL

Someday, I'll compare the two saws, in 20 inch wood, 20 inch bars. My guess is, the 5100 will be within 5-10 % of a bone stock 044.....It should, as it is probably turning about 5.5 horsepower, as it far far faster than it would be if it were stock. I only have an old 044 for comparison, as another old one was stolen.

Anyone who has not run a full woods modded 5100 by a darned good builder...

...needs to.

I'll see you and raise you a couple....

Anyone who has not run a full woods modded 361 by a darned good builder... or even just a decent muffler mod,

If the saw falls over...

:monkey: what about a chainsaw kick stand, you could mount it at the bar nuts!! J/K

I always set mine in the truck clutch cover down.

Is it really that difficult haul it in the box the saw came in?

The bars got totally soaked in oil, the first time I did it on the 353 and 621, but that doesn't happen on the 361.........

Btw, I don't use Veg-Oil on the ol' 621 - no point using it, as that one has a healthy oil output, and isn't used in cold weather.........

Its funny that this guy mentioned about his saw turning over. i have noticed that when i am not hauling the saws in the big trunk case I have and just throw them in the bed of the truck for a quick ride to cut. the 7900 is the one that always rolls over and yes i have tried putting it between other saws, but somehow it manages to wiggle free and roll over. Could be the design, who knows.:(
So maybe I am thinking that this saw is being picked on by the other saws because he does look different then the others. Maybe i should check and see if they are racial profiling the poor saw and thumping his azz on the rides when i ain't looking. :buttkick:

Just fire that 7900 up and those other saws will git lost!
