I do not know for sure, but with steel wheels I would guess in the 1930's. It has little or no wear, I spent 45 minutes lubing it up and we then belted it up. All the grease fittings easily took grease and I was able to roll it over by hand with little effort.

The hardest part is getting the wire tied, the wire we had was for cardboard bales and too long. I found the trick was to cinch it down when the plunger was compacting.

It would certainly take some time to bale a barn full of hay that way, but it was far better than a haystack I'm sure. I'd keep it inside somewhere.......
