Amsteel Blue Slings

I posted this thread in the tree care forum but I thought you logger guys may have some more ideas.

What is the best way to attach an amsteel blue sling with a single spliced eye to a tree or stump without tying knots in it. Is a timber hitch or stilston hitch acceptable?

A cow hitch might be better but I'm not sure. Samson has a lot of info on their website but I would go to Wesspur's forum here and ask them.
