The boring back cut . it is a very safe and controlled type of cut if done properly.

Not quite what the drawing shows but this could be a good cut to add your skillsets.
That's an interesting notch.
I will
Oh boy.The boring back cut . it is a very safe and controlled type of cut if done properly.

Oh boy.
Somebody forgot to mention the slopping back cut.
You going to give it a try?
Ambull01, there are three on this page that you should listen to without hesitation. As for advice from me, you can ignore almost everything except that and this - forget the tongue and groove trash. Not only is there no real hinge, you could put 4 or 5 trees on the ground safely in the same length of time. Ron
ya sure, sometime.
BTW, that diagram Gologit posted is my #1 most useful databit I have gotten off this site (Thanks G!). First saw it a few years ago after I had joined, it's a great felling notch either T or triangle. That and learning about bore cutting and leaners and making use of holding wood and using hinges to steer trees.
For leaners this cut is a good option. I've had good luck with the V version. It seems easier to line up the cuts than the T.
HuskStihl and rwoods both give good advice but for a more detailed explanation on falling techniques check out the Forestry and Logging threads. There are people there who make their living cutting trees.
