 G,day
Have had a 361 for a couple of months and found it to work well
I am now after another saw and have looked at the 460 this would be about as much weight as i wont to carry
How much more real hands on power is it over my 361
Most of my work is ground cutting

It's considerably more saw. It's got the the grunt to pull a 32" bar whereas the 361 doesn't. It's alot more saw. These two saws paired together would match up nicely, and would handle most anything. I own both, and if the 660 is more than you want to carry, though it doesn't feel much if any heavier than the 460, then these will round out the upper end of your saw selection well.

Welcome to AS.

Jeff

Night and day, I am a Husky guy, I like the 460 as much as the 372, great saw.

I have a 361 and an 066... Don't find the 066 particularly heavy (and there isn't much timber on the planet much it won't take down!) and I don't see the need for another saw in between - the 361/066 complement each other nicely. None of this means that I won't buy a 460 at some point :)

Nice save, Andy. Never say "never" when it comes to saws. You just never know. 4 years ago, if you would have told me I would own an 066, I would have thought you were a bit "off". If you would have told me I would own a 3120 (or 088 for that matter), I would have thought you certifiably insane.
Now I have both, not one or the other.

Why would you want a 441 when you can run either a lighter 440 or a 460 at the same weight as the 441? Just curious...

Does the 441 weigh that much? (I'm asking because I don't know.)

Jeff, I just did a search.
From what I can find. The MS441 Weights 6.6kg or 14.6lbs and that would be the same as the MS460.
The MS440 weights 6.2kg or 13.9lbs

That is what I found as well.

...and according to the 2006 Stihl OnLine Catalog, page 28, the MS441 has .5 HP less than the 460.

As one who is considering the 441 or 460, I'm wondering why (if the catalog is the final word) one would go for the 441 when the 460 has more torque and HP with the same weight...(assuming the $80.00 or so additional cost of the 460 is not an issue.) Is the new air filtration system and AV on the 441 that much better than those found on the 440/460?

If it's a spring based system like on the 361, then yes, it is significantly better, but not worth the extra weight and lower power IMO. I'd rather have more power and less weight while having buzzing hands at the end of the day, than have sweet anti vibe, and not be able to pull a 32".

If it is like the Husky Air injection (or Jonsered Turbo), which it looks very similar, then Yes. The one thing I hate about my 066 and 046 is the amount of times during the day that the air filter needs cleaned. That is the one downfall to them, but I wouldn't want to carry around a 460 weighted machine with the 440 power ??? Maybe because I was raised on the H brand, I got spoiled about not having to clean the air filter every hour worth of cutting. :( I still like my 046 (460), though. It is a nice comprise between power and weight.
