I know how I come off here but I dont mind. I would like to attempt to drive east to meet some members here, and work my way there. I have nothing better to do, and can think of no better way to see this country before Im too old to do so. If your intrested send me a PM. Some of you, Ive already PM'ed, you know who you are. I'll be bringing a MS200T and a 372xp Husky. I want to travel light to avoid a big theft in case it goes south. If you need a GRCS, lemme know in advance, cuz I dont wanna lug that thing accross the country for no good reason. If your not equipped, not used to doing, or cant get $2k+ a day, you probly dont want me around. (dont wanna sound cocky, but dont wanna eat your dinner, Im a producer). Cant leave here till May 8th. Any takers? Feel free to critcize all you want. Itll give us something to talk about for a while.

Sounds like a cool idea. Not sure how 4 bucks a gallon is gonna play into things. I cant afford ya but I would love to hear how things go.

The A-team def kicks butt!

Hell I wish I was rocking 2 g's a day. If you are still in the area I'll let you know when I can use you. Have fun seeing this vast land we call home do it now before you get bogged down.

Fear of the unknown. We were originaly going to drive there, but I figured gas would leave us bankrupt before we got halfway there. Hes got family to stay with and I didnt wanna be a 5th wheel if the work sit went south. Im on a teeter totter about leaving due to various co's that use my service locally, but they werent around 20 years before I hit the scene cuz they need me. Always liked learning new techniques from dif climbers, and I havent seen anything new around here in a long long time. Huh. Does that work as an answer?

The guy I was with last year consistently did $2500-$3K every day, but he worked toward the city and everything changes the second you cross 59. I guess that it helps that there arent any cornfields to throw brush out a pickup when you get that far southeast.:hmm3grin2orange:

Makes sense to me.

Well, if we have any luck this year, the old banshee medicine man who warts off any big storms in my area, will get hit by lightning and die, then we will get storms like the rest of the country, then I will be callin ya both! But until he dies, we will continue to watch major death storms break up, right when they get to us, I hate that guy!
I swear he stand on a barn on the west side of town and dances the storms away, bone in nose and all!

Didnt the Quad cities area get whacked pretty hard a few years back? Arent you near there? Some areas are due. Confession. I'm not really a big fan of storm damage work. But thats mostly due to past experiances where it screwed with booked work. Things are looking up. Got a couple estimates today, so does my cohort. Funny how 4 estimates can brighten your outlook these days.

And maybe thats why you don't make big money, you're thinking small.

get a good climber, get more work done, make more money.

of course you have to have the work, but you can bid lower when you're doing em faster........

I checked out his web site last nite. I'm guessing its him in the video. He doesnt need a climber. Look at the size of his arms. He could reach out and snap my neck like a skinny twig!LOL He's prolly in an area like mine where your lucky to get $1200-$1500 a day. Of course the phone needs to ring first.

Yes, thats me. And thank you for the compliment.

Slayer..its true, i do think rather small. But I dont mind for now cuz it keeps me in my comfort zone. Me climbing with my 3 groundies whom I believe are trust worthy and hard working. One of whom I agreed to start teaching to climb and he is doing good so far. I see promise in him. Ya gotta keep in mind I only have a chip truck n a 12 inch chipper, 1 ton dump w/light trailer for my little carlton stumper. good saws,ropes,ect...If I had a top climber around I figure the truck would just be full by noon. I know....SO GO DUMP IT, DUH....but then I gotta leave and dump an I just dont like it. IDK..things seem to go pretty good the way they are,...for now. But to grow a business ...they will need to change. But not this year.

My advice to you at your level would be get a mini with a BMG b4 a bucket. Buckets use diesel and need insurance. Minis lift more than a human spine:msp_biggrin: We used to sit around and debate what piece of equipment would get us to the next level faster. A bucket or a clam truck. That was b4 we knew minis were around.

I agree 100%. A mini has been on my mind for sure. Right now I dont have that kinda cheese and I doubt I have the credit so it will be alittle while. I dont want to start a mini vs bucket debate but I think mini is in the ole crystal ball. And a mini skid to!...and a better trailer(s)...and a better 1 ton dump....I could use a dump trailer...lol....did i mention an extra chip truck would come in handy? But in all seriousness...mini lift...hellllll ya. plus I can picture myself in one after my knees are replaced and whatever else starts breaking on my 40 year old body in the years to come. I feel pretty good now but you know what I mean. Minis are the future IMO
