put the saw

old dirty and wll i understand that, i was trying to spell it out for the guys that didn't know or are reading that didn't understand the question.i use a fiberglass scabbard with poly mare inserts so they don't dull blades inserts are removable so when they wear down replace them.when climbing use 3ft break away cord on right side with non locking beaner on both sides, most of break-ways have brass clips that easily unsnap and saw free falls. use prusik cord from front d to rear d so u can maneuver breakaway cord no friction when your moving around try it you might like it. easier.:monkey:

does your belt part of the saddle loosen up on you? if it does pull it back through the hardware and tuck it in the webbing. (i'll take a pic of that as well.) its helped.

Im forever retightning the waist strap, thought I was loosing weight at first! I also don't like feeling of the saddle slipping over my butt when im standing up on the spurs against the flip to block. I think suspenders might help but I have never gotten around to riggin something.

I have a bungee lanyard on the saw
The clip on the end is attached to the centre loop in the back of my B'fly.
I have put two bent gate crabs, one on each side, behind the D rings, plenty of room to get them in behind the webbing.
When I need to 'short haul' the saw I just clip the ring on the lanyard into one of the crabs on my hip.

I stiched a pair of suspenders on my harness too. Really helps.

Always carry my saws on my right. A rear handle saw just a ladder snap hooked into an accessory snap through the rear handle. (The old style ladder snaps-the new ones you see these days are just too big. The old ones you could find in the 90's were rounder and about as big as my hand.) The 200t is a different animal though. No good place for a ladder snap. Ended up using a slideline biner with the captive bar knocked out. I liked the way it opened and hooks into the ring on the 200t. I always run it off a swivel too so it sits against the leg better. Most of the guys i work with don't like the swivel addition cause it hangs the saw quite a bit lower. But with my long arms its no problem for me. Reach across my body with my left and pick up the front handle, unhook with the right, start and go. The swivel also helps me get a good angle to unhook-i can turn the saw so the gate is facing my body and easy to unhook but when the saw is dangling, the gate is facing out and the saw is lying flat against my leg. Saw lanyard comes up and hooks into the back of the saddle.

Sorry, hard to explain.

Oh, that's not on a butterfly either.

here is what i use. i like my chainsaw on the left. i also like to use a small non-locking krab so i can hook er quick. the fastest place for me is on my lanyard and that's gives me plenty of time to throw butts with both hands. it works good but always look when you lanyard in to avoid hooking to some place other than your d.

Here is the setup that I use on my Buckingham saddle. If your saddle does not have the brass clip already attached, you can always buy a brass clip (Home Depot) and have it put on. (Shoe repair place can usually do a wonderful job for $3-$5).

I have my choice on how I want to attach my saw. I can either girth hitch the loop on the bungee lanyard to the handle of the saw or to the metal loop at the back of the saw. With it girth hitched to the loop the saw hangs down a little too far for my liking so I usually attach it to the handle. The large ring makes it easier to attach the saw to the clip.

This set up works for me, however I also like some of the other ideas on here. WWL's carabiner idea is neat although I would want a safety line attached as well in case the saw fell/let go.

I like my saw on my right (I'm right handed, usually). I recently switched running ends of my rope/lanyards to my left as the saw had a tendency to snag the running part that was hanging near it.

the only reason i dont like the bungy is my arms are too long im 6'1

WLL your saw setup is hurtn! lol

i got a couple pics of my setup for ya. you need to get a caritool and bungee lanyard. 50-60 well spent dollars. i wouldnt lie to you about this man. lol how long do you think my arms are?

you can always unclip if you need that super extra reach but i usually try to find better cutting positions if i am doing that.

mitchell you need more ass if your belt is sliding past it! lol. squats man!

the pic is kinda self explanatory. pull it back through the steel and tuck it in behind the webbing. cinch up with the rubber thing. its helped.

oh and dont you worry about how new that 2hunge looks.

i clean that thing every day.

the boys like to laugh about it but i tell em you gotta treat your saws better than your ladies. they dont go up in the tree with ya, your saw does.

i have 3-4 bungy lanyards i hate them.

what about your hand saw? do ya even got one?

use whatever you want to use to secure the saw but i'd rather not run the saw with out it attached to the saddle. if it ever slips from your grasp it wont leave the tree, but if it gets pulled out under duress then at least with the way i run my setup it will let go and not pull me out of the tree with it.

not taking shots at your setup, ive known a couple guys that like to free hand. i said the same thing to them that i said to you. lol

of course man, to each their own.

mine works for me.

yah, i hang it off the little attachment ring on the left side of my saddle.

on the Dfly's bonsun(sp?) seat, there are a couple spots that you can slide a couple accessory biners into. i like that. i just found them out the other day. ive been moving it around a little bit. its a silky sugio, for some reason the setup doesnt hang like my old handsaw scabbard did. its a good saw so i will deal with it until i find the bet spot for it. i might have to find the leg straps for it.

anyone else strap their silky to their leg? how do you like it?

ill take some shots lol. like you said to each their own. im very light when cutting with all sawz so its a very rare thing when my saw goes with the tree. im also 99% of the time a two handed bandit and so the bungy works good but but its just to restrictive. im very diff than you with chainsaw care because i treat em bad. i dont bend over to put em down and i even use it as a hammer. if the tree wants to take my saw it can have it. i do keep a clean filter and razor sharp chain, and my sawz all run peek and oil well. i treat my woman much better than any toy or tool.

i did it for a day and the hook on the handle catches every rope around and it was a total pita. look at the pic for my silky it works well

yup yup. same thing happened to me. i put it on the outside of my right calf on a prune. PIA for sure. was thing of trying it on the outside of my left thigh.

i did see that pic of your snap for the silky. good one. might borrow it. lol

thanks!

looks like yalls arms are longer than mine,im tellin ya,clip that 20s top handle to a large beaner(left side of saddle), right hand holds the saw, left hand un clips and is ready to give that baby a pull, i keep my silky zubat on the right side:greenchainsaw:

Terry get him a new saw, Will?

im with you on tool placement, but my monkey knuckles use the entire handle so clipping anything to the handle is out. even if there was room i still would not do it.

you clip the handle?

personally i wouldnt want anything competing for space with my hand if its holding the saw.

anyway. i am righthanded so i want my saw on my strongside at all times. but if i do have to make a lefthanded long reach cut i'll unclip the bungee from my right side and clip it somewhere on my left side..... i dont think i could deal with the stress of running my tophandle free hand. i have no idea how many times ive been in the position where it is far easier to let the saw down slowly to the end of the bungee and continue to do the work than having to clip it back up after every cut.

especially when your in the middle of a tree forced yoga pose. lol
