I use a 4' hank of hemp with a spliced eye on one end connected to my 200t and a small steel clipbiner spliced on the other end. I clip the biner to the metal loop on my weaver saddle and I have two large cheap biners on either side jammned between the leather part of the saddle and the nylon webbing for to put through the saw handle when I am climbing. When I am working it hangs but I will adjust the length sometimes by daisychaining it to shorten up the hemp a bit. I use the blakes hitch with the split tail when it gets worn out I buy a new one.

i saw that setup on another guys dragonfly but i didnt like how it slid. i bent the saddle looking for a better spot and found it behind the stitching. it stays there pretty good now.

it kinda makes it so that your hooking the saw to the caritool a little deeper past your hip and out of the way. unless i see something better, i think this is the way to go with the way the dragonfly is set up for tool carrying.

old thread new question

The carry tool is one of those things I am always going to order but never seem to get around to it. the goofy little hook seems to work pretty well mind you.
Well searching for info on repairing saddles I found this thread to be the closet to a match

Old dirty I tried the carry tool and found they break to easily. I went back to the cheap dollar store ladder hooks. I like being able to set and retrieve the saw with one hand and without looking. Due to using the leg scabbard on the right leg, I switched the saw to the left side since I posted last. Took a bit of getting used to but its normal now. The leg scabbard sucked at first but now I find the pros outwiegh the cons. Not having to look at the scabbard to set or retrieve the saw is what I find most benifical.

My B2 is starting to to come apart. The petzel sequia with shoulder straps is on the way but I would like to fix my B2. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated. Heck I'll take a pic of the thread that is coming apart. You might notice I'm missing a gear loop; lost to a branch catching the bull line on the way to terra firma. Thats what started the thread tearing I suspect. I have a new bridge but I realized to late I ordered the wrong size... doa. My buddy can use it I suppose. The bridge cover tearing was done long ago by clipping into the bridge instead of the ring.

i hear you mitchell. i jumped on the petzl caritool bandwagon way too early. i broke 2 of them hanging my saw on them. sorry for leading you astray on that one. i took a verbal dump on them in a different thread though if that helps.

i got a big biner too now. i think its for the ladder as well. its a good size at least. lol.

onto your saddle.

my dragonfly is doing the exact same thing! right where i hang my saw. sucks, ive only got 2 yrs in this saddle.

looks like i need to look at another brand. so far i have noticed that the komet team is putting out some weak gear. not saying bad gear but not durable. i bought their spikes too and them things only lasted 2 months before i kicked them on down the line.

that sequoia sure looks good but i have to question the longevity of them if my dfly is already on the way out the door.

still not going to put that scabbard on my leg though. lol

edit: after looking at your saw biner in the pic i have the same one on mine but it is green and i cut the rubber off it. lol

and the bridge. use some rope. i hated using the one they give you with the saddle so i just threw a rope bridge on it. much better, or at least i dont look at it as much as i did with the strap one.

triple fisherman'd them to the saddle where the original one went.

I suspect the sequoia is going to be a little weak but I wanted to offset my arthritis issues with the shoulder strap. What gives, seems to me a saddle should be able to last a life time. I have a linesmen belt that must be 30 years old! I do not want to throw my b2 in the garbage I would like to fix it but I suspect I can not bring it to the local seamstress for fixing.

I'll give it a go when the wesspur order gets in. Yea I can go either way on the leg scabbard debate but so far I find it marginally the better of the two. I had to re learn how I climb A bit to keep it from hooking on branches and the rope constantly, after that not to bad.

i hear you man. for 300 bones these saddles should be able to "hang".

2 guys i work with just bought that sequoia and love it. i like them too and dig the design. so light but i think that might be the downfall off them. not strong enough to deal with the day in and day out work.

maybe you can use some fishing line and do the seamstress thing yourself? i might have to try that. lol

Get a Speedy Sticher Kit. It is a heavy duty sewing awl that will go through the thickest cowhide! I think Ace sells them. I bought mine years ago and it helps get that extra mileage out of my gear. You always want to fix a little problem before it gets too big!
