My original post was already TL so I didn't go into all the gruesome details, but if the seller, in his email on Sat the 12th had told me the truth, that he hadn't shipped yet for a guaranteed delivery date on the 15th. I would have told him to cancel the auction. Too many red flags. No tracking number, late shipping, etc...

In our phone conversation the fool tried to tell me that it was impossible to ship a 385 for less than $47 and he lost money on the shipping. UPS repacked the saw for me and weighed and measured it. Cost for shipping= $34 with $200/insurance.

Lie after lie.
I shipped a 046 and a ms 290 together for 22 bucks shipping is not that expensive

you spent your hard earned cash on that saw at the least the seller should do is make good and dam sure its packed right!!! Thats Bullcrap..
Ebay is normally pretty good when the buiyer is not happy ..
Sorry to hear this can you make that saw good again if you decide to keep her?
If not ship that saw back and demand your cash back ASAP!

JJ, a scenario & a question for you.

You see a parts saw on eBay that has some good parts that you really need in order to finish a project saw that you really want/need to complete. You buy the saw. The seller does a pizzpoor packing job, and several of the parts that you need get broken because of the lousy packing. Do you take an "Oh well, no harm, it's a parts saw" attitude, or get pizzed off because the seller's lousy packing caused the parts that you really need to get broken in transit?

This did happen to me as I said before, on a parts saw you cant get parts for easily. Packed same way = broken crankcase.
As I said before. I was pizzed and I handled it with the MEMBER here in private like adults.

The all sales final and no returns is meaningless with Paypal, as when you take Paypal (which you must on Ebay) you must take returns if the buyer is not satisfied with the product. Regardless of what you put in the ad. Its Ebay and Paypal policy.

My mantra here has been and always will be when buying saws on Ebay, pay with a CC using Paypal. File a complaint with the CC company and they will give you instructions to return the product. Once the seller has signed for it, they will credit your account. With Paypal, filing a complaint takes longer, is usually drawn out, and they can only refund the money if there is money in the seller's PP account. There are also the issues of the product being in the condition that they sent it in, and the cost of return shipping.

For that reason I do not buy saws on Ebay. I have posted similar Saw From Hell threads on AS. One was removed when we got downright hostile toward a guy in Louisiana that sold me a beater saw and lied through his teeth about it, got all hostile, etc. He is long gone from Ebay now. I am all for putting this seller's name here and flaming them for what they are. Good luck with your dispute. As for being adults, I say BS to that. I say scream loudly and warn others of these sellers. This is AS, after all...

If the guy would of just said man, I was a piece of crap & shipped it later than what I said I would of & been honest when it did go out, that would of went a long way, there really is no excuse for a lie when he shipped it & just throwing it in a box, he deserves all the flames for that. My next auction will state item will ship within 2 days of being paid for. Last saw I sold the auction ended on Friday night, dude pays on sunday night late & Monday morning is in a big hurry for delivery, really?

I can appreciate that.

I can also appreciate the OP wanting to vent. Even though we're only hearing one side of the story (anybody remember the dh1984 eBay mess?), it sounds as though the eBay seller was/is being difficult.

Here's the end of the saga. After the seller never tried to work the issue out in the week that Ebay gave him on my second case, I escalated the case. All photo's and evidence, the written lie regarding the shipping date, the photos taken at my local UPS office, the photos I submitted regarding broken parts were considered and I was given a free UPS return label and one week to ship it back. On April 30th, the 6th day, I shipped the saw after documenting my packing. It was delivered today to New Milford, CT. Also today I was given a full return of funds including the shipping charges to my PP account.

All the OEM parts I bought for the 385XP were traded to an AS saw porter for future work. And yesterday I bought a like new, run three times, 2008 395XP an acquaintance on another site found for me in a dealer in upstate New York. The incredible generosity of this gentleman in passing on a great deal on a great saw went a long way toward ending my frustration with the ebay seller.

I did beat his feedback up because I still hate liars.

Here's the seller for those of you buying on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331167758422?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I will not be back on this thread again. Life's too short to get all worked up over trollers...

Here's a few comments from his feedback page...

"Not one stitch of padding in that box."
"Shipping was a bit high, no padding on item in the box."
"Took a long time to ship."

Just Sayin'. The rest were all positive.

I think you should keep your dirty laundry to yourself. This type of thread brings nothing of value to this site.

This is a difficult issue to deal with but nothing raises my ire more than someone being economical with the truth when selling an item. For those of you Stateside it may be easier to resolve seller issues but someone like me in the Emerald kingdom a seller being untruthful creates a big issue. Some item are only available in the states and if I order something and its not right I will lie the loss.
Disingenuous sellers need to be outed to prevent scams etc and to do this we need to talk about them and to expose them.......................

I'm with the OP on this one. 6 days to ship, and just throwing it loose in a box . . . that's horrible customer service and a seller that should be punished.

and I can't stand a Liar! Parts saws are "parts saws" but if you throw it in a box as it appears in the picture you deserve to have your hide tanned!

I'm sorry I lost my temper, I'll go back to Chucky's site where I belong, and where my friends are.

Go ahead and flame me if it makes you happy.

No need to apologize. Your frustration is well founded. If I buy a parts saw, I don't expect it to look like a bag of parts when it arrives, unless I understood when I purchased it that it was a basket case. I expect the saw to be as described in the list and packed so as to avoid damage. Most sellers (including the members on this site) know that if you don't cover your crack that it is going to bite you in the transaction. Clear and simple. When a man blows you off because he knows he has been caught in a lie -- well that's double proof you're in a deal with someone who cares nothing about integrity...period. That's my 2 pennies

Individuals that pack items well for shipping are about as scarce as common sense anymore.

When you find one that meets both of the above, you feel like you won a lottery.

three trash bags and one can of great stuff foam, that bitch can be dropped from a plane and it would still be fine and make a video showing the s/n of the saw and how your packing it $15 is cheep insurance..
also, lots of cardboard surrounding the bar, and if you want to step it up a notch zip tie it to the saw

Maybe it's just me, but when I ship something, I kind of like to see just how well I can pack it to insure that it arrives in the same condition as when I sent it.

I've actually had many people contact me after the fact, just to tell me how much they appreciated the time and effort I put into packing the item I shipped to them.

When someone sends me something, and it's obvious that they did a great job of packing it, I let them know. Just doing that kind of puts a bug in their mind as to doing the same thing the next time they ship.

I can appreciate that.

Which dh1984 mess? As I recall, he was constantly having them.....

Dirty Laundry? On the contrary it adds much value, unless you consider looking out for one another of little value? Many of us do buy saws and saw parts from ebay still. I consider it very considerate that someone would think of others and bother to point out a bad experience from a dodgy seller so that others may be forewarned not have to go through what he has gone through.
