very interesting!

would you happen to have the weight of the bar and avg. thickness ?

The thickness measured the same 0.1750. I do not have a scale to read accurate enough that low, but I cannot imagine a piece of steel 3/4"x 0.1750" x 2 3/4~7/8 would account for much weight.

I did lay it on a 28" Stihl bar while I was having the chain shortened, and it is ~1/8 shorter which aligns w/ the specs you show... 30" (new Sugi) vs. 30 1/8" (ES).

UPDATE: I do have a cheap food scale, and it weighed in at 3 lb 3 oz ~ 3 lb 4 oz usually settled in between the two marks so we can call it 3 lb 3.5 oz

You haven't per chance got a hardness tester available to check hardness of the bar rails do you?

Cannons are just harder. I have a 28" and just by feel it is harder than any other bar I have. Sounds weird but just what I think.

If they weren't so much heavier talk about a home run!!

Thanks for the 50" Mike. Man that's a lot of quality bar there.

Some of the cannons are lighter than the same length bars from other brands. I like them in the bigger bars for the wider belly.

I do too, RW Oregon is my choice for appearance. Doe anyone know why the Cannon 41 and 36 have such a different profile?

36" super bar laying on top of the 41" super bar. I would guess it's larger on the 41" bar to provide some extra rigidity/stability/less flex etc. at the mount area to keep the bar from bowing with the added length.

where did you order the new style eslight from?

came with a saw I bought. Guy lived in Idaho.

Here's the Tree Monkeyed (ported) 880 with 36" tsumura lite (large mount). All I can say is this bar makes this saw beyond awesome!
