Yesterday I went to see a buddy, (and deliver what I thought would be my last ever 372XP), and he says, "Want to go look at some saws?"
Story is that a guy who used to own a shop accumulated lots of stuff and has a barn where he put all of this stuff 20 or more years ago. They are looking to clean out the barn, so we're invited to take a ride over and see if there is anything we want.
On the way there, I make some remark that I need to keep a lid on the saw hobby, because at some point you have too many saws all over the place, and it just becomes a big mess. My buddy agrees, and says that some people are idiots and just keep bringing junk home.
So we pull up to this barn and there has to be something like 200 to 300 saws in there. Homelites, Stihls, Jonsereds, Mac's, and a couple of just about everything else just sitting in one big long pile. Half of the saws could probably be made to run, although most are missing a part or two, which isn't a problem since there's probably another one nearby with the part you need. Most of the repairable saws were probably abandoned by people who didn't want to pay to have them fixed, or just wanted a new saw.
"Take whatever you want guys, it's all gotta go"
"Good thing we didn't bring the truck" we joke to each other. But we still fill trunk of his car with saws, laughing at the fact that we can't stop ourselves. 028, 038, 040, jonny 920, 3-XL12's, (one with the rare red, green and white paint scheme) and some parts. (The 028, 038, and two of the Homelites have already at least fired, so they can be brought back to life.)
We're looking in the trunk wondering why we are doing this, and the guy asks, "That all your taken'? Ain't you got room for a couple more in there?"
"Na, that's enough; thanks"
We get back to his house and unload everything and say something about "there's all of that junk we said we weren't going to come home with."
We're goin' back next week with the truck.
