I was visualizing something even cheesier than that. There are no rods like that in my engines. I know what that came out of. I won't be buying one of those. thanks for the heads-up.

I called the Edmonton shop and got a price on 2 Dolmars. PS420 with 16" bar for $358.00 and $451.00 for a 5100s with 16" bar. They don't stock many Dolmars, so both are ordered in with about a 3 week wait. I am in no hurry at this point.

Both prices are appealing, and both saws are mag with forged "I" connecting rods.:msp_thumbsup:

I'll save my pennies and pick something up in a while. I am still on the fence with brand. I will be buying something with a proper motor in it.

Powerwise, how would these 2 models compare to the Johnny 590 I already have? I thought the Johnny was smooth until I ran the MS362. It's not even close. Are the new Dolmars smooth like the Stihl?

The 420 is a very well built little powerhouse. It's a pro saw all the way, although a little heavier than other saws in it's class. You would really like it.

Yup.
Thanks for the pics. Yours are better than the mfr website, by far. I'm liking the looks of that saw.
Any idea how it would compare to the 590? Weaker and smoother? The 590 has lots of power with a small bar. It never bogs, ever. A little less power would still be OK.

Thanks again.

Having only one bar stud just seems wrong. Other than that I'm sure its a great improvement over the 210.

If that is the Jonsered 590, why mention it in this thread? :msp_confused:

I would have been very happy to have one of those though!

I didn't know the 241 was available in the U.S.

I have a 211 and it's a great little saw, but it is a plastic saw. For the money, quality and power the 420 is a much better saw than it needs to be. In power it's very close to some 50cc saws as well. If I were in the market I'd give it a hard look.

Here's a video of my 211.

241 is in Europe and OZ not in US yet

211 is a nice saw to use

I'm currently leaning towards an ms250, considered an 024, but the resale value on them is stupid for the condition I've been finding them in.

If 40cc is your goal, then I'd go with a good used 024 first and a ms250 as the second choice, with the Dolmar 420 as the third option. I haven't run the Dolmar, but I have a 024 and really like it. I have run a MM ms 250 and it was close to my stock 024 in power but not in build. If your gonna pinch and pull on the the saw the ms250 is not the best choice as the rubber AV mounts tend to pop out. You should be able to get a good 024 for $125-$200 on Ebay. Whichever saw you get just make sure to get the non safety chain. It makes a big difference in these small saws. In .325 I tend to like the yellow Stihl chain.
