Here's me in an undercut of a 6 1/2 or 7 ft. Sugar Pine my dad fell around 1980.

One heck of a Sugar Pine!
That looks like Sierra timber, I logged north of you near Yuba Pass.

I cut this one in one of those cabin areas along the river. It was right next to a chimney.

I think it was 55"

I can't imagine what it must be like to be near one of those monster trees when they tip on the final cut.

What I love the most is the creaking and groaning it makes as it starts to tip. And I would love to hear it in person from one of those large trees!

Great pics Randy. Do you have any with the Master Ray in them? Would love to see a pic of the guy who ran and loved his 900 series Homelites!

Chris.

I do have a few of the old guy, they could make it into the book.

Redwoods sometimes make a booming sound from the trunk as they start to move. The really fun ones do more than creak and pop, I have seen some very interesting, eh, reactions at the stump over the years, most were rather noisy.

My trees dont hold a finger to any of these WOW

It's all about where you live and what grows there. I am no tree snob, I can recognize that some of you guys are cutting prime examples of local trees.
You do your best with whatever God gave, I was blessed to be born in North-Western California.

This is one my brother took down 2 years ago.He was going to put a rope on it but seeing that it was in the woods and with its lean would not damage anything he just went for it.In the pic he is just getting ready to put his notch in it:msp_laugh:

He did after alot of checking and rechecking get it on the ground.

Yuba Pass would be south of Chester. If you were friends with Vestal Skaggs then you must know Johnny Van Duzen. My dad raced both their 101 Mac's back in the day.

LOL, I turned around, yeah south, closer to Tahoe.

I met Vestal just a few years ago, The last time I saw him was Mid June, last year we were talking about mixing some fuel and warming up one of his saws. Vestal is no longer with us, passed in late June. I had driven an old Ranchero home to Crescent City, from Seattle. The first place I stopped was Vestal's shop, he had just taken the elevator upstairs, he will be missed.

This is one of his McCullochs. I tried to get some of his saws saved, most of it was walked off with.
No, I don't have this one.
