Ha! Yes it does! I didn't want to cut away anything I might want, once everything is in place I'll cut away everything I can.

Thats a good plan. Its nice to leave a little metal to work with, beats making strange brackets. I don't lighten them up until I have the full mock-up built.
 
Under. I thought It would make starting quicker (saw is taller, closer to the wood)? and leave the top of the saw unobstructed for starting?, What do you think?

I like pipes that run under, definitely under on yours with all of the forward tilt. I also like pipes that run over. All of the ones I have built have been over so far.

The main reason I would go under is to put the recoil on the sprocket side but I prefer them on the ignition side anyway. I like going over because I can move the pipe where it is best suited to provide balance.

Just personal preference I guess.:cheers:
 
Ralph, here is that OhioCat bikesaw from the Chardon show. He was running a short bar for cutting 8x8's and had longer bar for big wood events.
Saw cut fast, but was a load in making changeovers.

Better shot of rear handle on ohiocat saw at chardon. I cant remember the guy that owned this saw, but i think it was his dad that was running a 090 racesaw there too.
The bikesaw weighed in the 50-55LBS from what he told us and it didnt make the cut for the top 6 fastest saws for the finals in the open class(change overs was a killer on his time), production style saws made up the top 6.

That OH Cat saw looks sweet! Is it an illusion or is the back handle really that far off center?

That looks like an 090 handle, if it is bolted directly to the side plate then it is that far off center. I have seen a few bike saws with the back centered on the bar instead of the crank case. More personal preference I guess, I like to center on the crankshaft. With the amount of rotating mass bike saws have it doesn't matter anyway, they hold themselves straight as long as the top handle is centered.
 
8x8's are boards not logs, bike saws need some good sized timber before they can shine. I would bet I am faster with my 2100 stock apearing than with my bike saw in that size of wood, you probably are spending more time on the start and change overs than in the wood anyway.
 
Ralph think about it. Die goin 150 mph with your bunghole three inches off the pavement. Dont die getting cut in half just standing there holding a goofy lookin high speed chainsaw. Slide into the grave sideways man. Dont make them carry you in two different coffins. Id put it on the kart. You could be the fastest kid on your block.

NAAAAAAAAA. 125's are too small for go carts anyway.

Before anyone asks, its a GSXR750 and its around 140 hp. It belongs to a friend of mine who is crazier than me. He since realized that the cart was a BAAAAAD idea but then he came up with a worse one, he is fitting that motor into a YZ250 that was left over from a bikesaw build. When its done I am going to have to get video on it before he dies.
