We used to practice that one off the water tower up on Camp Frank D. Merrill In Dahlonega Ga. Oh yeah, and the 100mph tape around his shins is for holding a nice piece of sleeping mat to his legs for padding.

I've noticed that they do that up to a mock Heuey skid. Does anyone ever do extractions like that realworld?

I'd rather SPIE-RIG.

I have done training med-evac extractions using a jungle penitrator in the bush and even using a floatation collar under a navy CSAR Sea Hawk. (dont ask about the M-203 we lost in Big Muddy Lake on Camp Macall, NC) Have only done a few SPIES and STABO extractions, It was a cool ride, and we only had one pilot dunk us into the Atlantic side of the Pannama Canal.
