Updates, or still tracking down parts?

What do you do with the negative cable? And how much baking soda did you use?

I still need muffler parts. I had a slight screw up/setback. When I was doing the 7-21 #'s the wife was wetting them down and handing them to me. I didn't realize then the tank 7-21's were about 1/8" larger than the side 7-21's. Well the large ones ended up on the ashtray. I contacted Joe at SCS about replacements. He took care of me and sent replacements at no charge. But it took quite a long time to get them. I am also trying to get the correct stencel to redo the bar. In the meantime, thw wife had me start on a bathroom remodel. :dizzy: I'm going to find the time to complete it sometime! I will get the thread back up to date as well.

As for the Rust Removal using Electrolysis; try here:

Terrific job you are doing here WDO - well done. That old Homelite will look great when you are all finished.

Nothing like a renovation thrown in by the wife to mix things up a little! We have just done our kitchen over here, and I couldn't wait to get back to the shed with my saws.

Congrats on a fine job - looking forward to seeing the completed project.

Regards,

Chris.

Thanks for the link WDO, I had seen that before but had forgotten the process.
Hate to hear about the small mishap, but Im sure you will have it straightened out in no time.

After a week of soaking the chain in PB blaster and "working" it every couple of days, It still has rust and tight links here and there.

I'm going to try a different approach. Washing soda:

Coffee can, a piece of old angle iron, and a battery charger:

We'll see what this does in a day or 2. WDO

Can you help me with this setup. I see the washing soda goes into the water. Postive cable goes to the angle iron, what is connected to the negative cable? I see it's attached to the side of the can but to what. Thanks

the negative goes on the chain he's derustifing, or whatever your trying to clean up.
i just did this to a 2-man crosscut saw handle, works good. you do have to give it a light wire wheel to finish up.

Haha, yep forgot the remodel.

But the teaser looked great. I dont have the patience to repaint, Id rather just run them.

:clap::cheers: for you

The paint process turned out great so far. It looks incredible! I was concerned about the top coat lifting decals. No problem there. I got a couple of small runs on the FW wheel cover, but not bad for a rookie.

I'm not real sure what to document on the reassembly. It seems like it will be kind of boring just posting ....put this on and that on. I will say I started with the reed valve/carb. I knew it had to go on before the rear handle and that the governor needs to hook up to it once the FW/recoil is on. I was careful to try to save gaskets as I took everything apart. When I reuse a gasket I will be using a THIN layer of Yamabond to both sides upon reassembly.
