They are both sweet saws, you cant go wrong with either. I do own both.

The 361 will handle a 24" bar with skip chain. You wont have any problems with a 20" on it. That being said if you ever get into anything you need more saw for, youll kick yourself you didnt get the larger saw. Especially if the 441 is on the table too.

Try them both out if you can. Go to your dealer and tell him youd like the Stihl Rep to drop off a couple demos so you can try them out.

... personally i dont like a 24" bar on the 440/441. the bar seems to handle the saw rather than the saw handling the bar. if i "need" a 24" bar i definitely want it on a 460. ....
determine your bar length needs first, then get enough saw to pull it. if the 20" bar wil satisfy your needs then the 361 will do the job, albiet the 441 will do it faster.

clear as mud???:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

You can't be serious Niko...:help:

GB Titanium bar. So far so good on the bar. Not to heavy, I got that 20" and a 28" off Ebay for $100 shipped.
....

I would want a 70cc saw for a 20" bar - for me, it is to a large part a balanse issue, my 361 surely will not balanse a 24" bar very well, 18" is about perfect, 20" still OK for occational use, but tip heavy for allround use.

20" is perfect on my 372xpg.

This is with laminated bars, and GB bars are heavier than most, so the above might not apply with them.

When the bar's in the wood, what's to balance?

It's not like anyone stands around holdin' their saw all day. At least I hope not! :)

Agree, but it makes a differense when it is not in large wood, and for limbing, and when carrying in high grass/underbruch....and ...and.....

....easier to get the felling cuts level with a balanced saw also......:D :D

Balance can certainly be an issue on a limbing saw, but I haven't found bar length within reason to be a concern with a felling or blocking saw.

F350 said weight is not an issue...If that is the case then get all the muscle you can afford...IMHO:D

You guys are all great. I thank you for all the help. Awsome site.

What 20" bar and chain does Stihl in stall from the factory on the 441?

The ES solid bar is on the 441 in the showroom I believe std from the factory.

What should be installed on the 441 out of the box for a 20" bar? Rollomatic E laminated bar or the ES solid bar.

I Could not tell which chain. But it was not the low kick back as on the ES 24" bar.

Thanks Rich

You tell the dealer which bar you want, the ES bars are much more durable. you might get a 20 for general work, and a 28 for special occasions...As far as chain goes I am in the dark about the newer chains like the RSC...I have used RS for years so some of the other members might be able to steer you in the right direction as far as a chain is concerned.

RSC will work just like the RS, just a bit less vibes.....

...same with RMC vs RM.

....but the R*C3 chains may be another story, haven't tried one yet, and don't really want to either....

I run 24" and 28" bars with RSF on my 441. I run a 20" with RSF on my 034.

But that's just me. Others are going to have different opinions.
