Normally when I am logged in and view a post I made I get the option of editing/deleting that posting. I made a post earlier today that for some reason doesn't offer my any choice but to quote it. I tried logging out and back in, and it doesn't make a difference.

I'm probably doing something wrong here, but I am stumped...Any suggestions?

lol, man am I glad that thread is up and you'all can see that neither trimmmed nor I was involved with that one!!!

talk about smacking Lou's hornets nest....

I want to modify/delete a post I made earlier today. Am I out of luck?

It may be the intent, but it will make me post less.

It's like a boss of mine used to say, "it's no crime to wake up smarter."

Know what you mean. I sometimes make a post and read it later in the day and realize it dont say what i meant. Now i cant go back and correct that. Bad idea not allowing at least 24-48 hours to edit post.
Like in a earlier post i said i past when i meant i passed, now I cant fix it.

Almost every post I make, I have some remorse. So I chug a few more
beers, and hammer my original post home. Sometimes I take the contrite
gig as far as I can stomach, but then I get pissed off, and leave that pile
lie where I layed it.
As bad as I have gotten, I have only used the edit feature to correct spelling or grammar, so these ignorant pig farmers here know exactly what I mean!!!!!!

so what is the new rule?-I have one to fix also

24-48 is just about right, gives a slim window for wiping egg off your face and is still protective of older threads from disgruntled/inebriated editing.
:help:

A couple of days would be nice, or even better, leave it how it was... I always fix up my spelling/grammer etc whenever is see an old post needing attention.

..........................., or even better, leave it how it was...

Hopefully not, I am in favor of having the time limit and saving continuity and integrity of past threads. A perfect example of a casualty, would be the predator build thread.

What if someone replied to that post you made? And then someone replied to that? And then you come waltzing along and delete the original post? Chaos. I can make a post and then check it after posting and live with it. No biggy.
I think it's a wonderful idea and whoever thought of it should get a year's free membership.

It was mentioned in the Seig Heil thread that someone had a wedgy and was going back and deleting all his posts, which of course is going to screw up a bunch of threads. That's what brought it on. So there is a good reason for it.
