A few things to add.
The access road is very good once the snow goes away. At one of the large bike/quad events it rained alot, and the only vehicle that had issues was one of the ambulances, driven by a woman with very little experience with it. Weimy's put many hours into further road improvement with the 'hoe since then. No worries, there.
Farther up, the road turns into a tractor road in a field that can be interesting when its wet. If its too wet, but the weather is decent, we could have the event lower down and park on the access road. Or ferry people up with the tractors and wagon, 4x4s, and quads. There are several tractors on the farm, two quads, and whatever else others bring along. It'll work out one way or other.
Along with the directions we can even post my cell # so that we can come down and get you topside. Again, this is weather dependent. If the snow doesn't melt, we'll have to postpone. If the access road wasnt still blocked with snow, there would be no problem getting up there right now, (other than the 5ft deep and 4ft wide trench next to the culvert! Which we'll fix)

Weime, sounds awesome.

Without trying to be a stick in the mud, an additional idea on PPE - simple liability waiver? Doesn't have to be fancy, just an, "I agree to hold Weimedog harmless blah blah blah."

Glad to hear there will be room for the small saws, since my 180 is just about as small as it gets. :) Hopefully I can tweak this stupid 024 and have it running right or get some tips on getting it to run right while there!

Looking forward to it!

Z

Have a sign in sheet, print and sign your name, attached to the written waiver.
A sign at the entrance and one at the actual site would be a good idea too.
Something like this, just change some of the words to chainsaw.

If all the above fails I'm sure we could dig a hole to hide the body.:greenchainsaw:

Yeeeehaw! Weime, that looks awesome. Only one thing missing from your gear for the day, and that's a nice rifle! :)

Weime and Moto, Thank you for investing so much of your time into this event. I love the idea of different areas, with different species of wood to play with, that will really add variety and adventure to this event!
Last I saw we were down to two dates, Has it been nailed down yet?
CSW

"That leaves 4/6, 5/3"

That is where we are now...

Either work for me..weather permitting.

My road is a couple of weeks from being passable, but once across the valley; the hill is a little muddy but certainly workable. The hill top (parking area) is dry already.

Also those who want to show sooner and help setup are welcome ANY weekend before the GTG! Especially the Saturday before. My goofy winter schedule ends last weekend in March..until then I work Saturdays untill 2:00, home 2:30. I also then have the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesdays off. Come April my work schedule is back to a five day Monday-Friday week.

And I have to stress...this is all weather permitting. It looks good for the long term forecast right now...but we can have either a spring storm or gusher rain storm that will waste my road!

I would like to shoot for the April date and hope....then use the May date as a rain/weather date. I have to start a couple of farm projects early this year, another 5000ft fence and a water development project on the hill....AND clearing another fence line for about a mile....so fixing the road is in line.

SO heres the "not fun" stuff to cover:

1) Bring footware that can handle wet conditions.
2) All your PPE's (Chaps, Footware w/ steel toe, Gloves, Eye/ear/head Helmets)
3) Bring a 4WD capable vehicle
4) Expect a "pot luck" style food arraingement....can some one bring a tent & propane stove?
5) As ZerCool brought up I will have a little liability waiver to sign...and require those here to have their own Medical insurance (a card) (Both are requirements in from my local town for these type of "special" events.
6) I will provide a pota-potty if women want to attend..(please let me know!)
7) Quads & Utility Vehicles are welcome to get to our difference saw places..
8) I will PM my address/phone to those who are coming..PM me for the info!
9) Will one of you Dealer types be able to bring some PPE's to SELL if guys don't have them?? Let me know. Maybe some other simple stuff like 2-Stoke oil, Multi tool for chain adjustments etc.

Anything else? This too restrictive?

Presuming I can make it (I'll be putting in a time off request for both dates), I have a 10x10 canopy/awning that can come along. No big burner, though.

Once that culvert's covered over the road looks fine for my truck, balding tires and all. :)

Sounds good to me. If anyone is from WNY that doesn't have a capable 4wd, we can meet up somewhere and carpool the rest of the way, my truck will make it where ever I need it to.

So, uh, whats the date and location again?

Monday April 6th? or did you mean Sunday April 5th?

I might have a few things I might be able to bring, most of my stuff is still hibernating in the great white north.

Hey Guys,

I had not heard anything about the GTG in a while and I noticed a sticky about another NY GTG. Just making sure the one in Cortland is still happening. I hope it is, because it is way closer for me to get to and I can visit family in Ithaca on the way.
