Yeah, for me that 880 would go they way of your shelved 660!!! Never get used.

Not I just need to find someone to professionally modify the standard muffler cover for me!!! I got the DP cover, but hear they are still quite restrictive.

HAHA, mine will get used one day when the grandkid can pick it up and gas it up for the first. He's only 1 so the saw has it made for several more years before it comes down from the shelf, lol.

Cassey now that you have that new saw please be sure its running at the proper RPM levels. I just read a thread last week about a 66/600 that had fried two pistons. Be new or old those saws have to be adjusted correctly for a long life in the woods so make durn sure its running within specs and you'll have no problems with it....

I hear ya. My dealer did me a favor I wont mention here, but Im going to pick up a tach probably before I ever fire it up.

Good. Just remember saws gain RPM's as they break in and loosen up so check it a few times untill its well broke in and then you can put the tach away and let her go to work...

You're thinking of the 440 DP cover... the 066 DP cover is not overly restricted and about the right size. ...just as it was in 1995... You may want to cut out the end off the silencer inside the muffler back, and/or increase the stock back half hole to 16mm, but try it first... apart from noise, the DP cover gets you 99% of the way there.

Brandon, whats your first impression of that bar....

Oh yeah, I also picked up 2- 3/8, 50 gauge RM chains while I was there. I will keep them in the box untill we meet up.

First, Let me say congratulations on the fine saw purchase. It looks so shiny and purty....

OK, I read the quote above....Why you using RM chain for comparisons? Rs would make both saws look better.

Not to steal your thread...and I am not Brandon... Here is a pic of one of my saws with both a muffler mod and a Total Bar (same as the carlton premium, both made by Tsumara). It is shure hard to tell that this bar has a lot of time on it. It is 1 1/2 - 2 years old, and has cut approximately 40 cord with it. Now, after seein that and knowing what I told you, what do you think?

They are one my my favorite bars. THey wear 10x better than any other bar I have ever used. (just got a GB Pro top, but don't have enough time on it for a comparison).

The only downside with them, is that alot of shops don't have tips for them, but I haven't had a tip go bad on these yet. The 24" bar I have is a little heavier than a comparable STihl or Oregon bar, so that may be an issue with a longer bar.

Steve, I picked up the RM chains because I dont have any 20" loops of RM, and its always nice to have it if Ive got the "dirty wood!!"

That muffler mod is along the lines Id like to do!! Did you do that?

My dealer has about 10 Total bars, brand new, hanging on the wall in the back. All odd chain sizes though, and different mounting patterns. He has them very reasonably priced though. I may have to take a look again, and see if there is something I can make work!!!

If you are looking for a specific Total bar, let me know and Ill see if he has it.

Ive got a 16" Pro Top on my 260, and let me tell you, that bar is heavy!!! It is a nice bar though. Im thinking about helping the paint come off, right now, with very little use, it looks like its been through a war!! The Ti bars are real nice...Compared to a 28" ES bar, the GB bar is a little lighter, and believe it or not, a little shorter.

064 has been working great!!!

been having new sawitis lately... especially after seeing super cooooollll pic's your your new saw!

I hear ya!!! That 066 I bought after your 064 fell through was running just fine. But got bit by the bug, and it all worked out!!!!

Hes still asleep on the pillow right now, I may have to sleep on the couch tonite.

What do you mean odd chain sizes? The old total bars where made by GB I think, they were white with the red total logo. These shiny bars are the ones made by Tsumara. If he has a 16" 3/8 050 60DL for a small husky mount(or dolmar, or etc). I would be interested in it. My dealer can get them, but only stocks 20" and 24" in the big husky mount, and the last time I had him order two, well, one is still on B/O. THe GB Protop does feel quite a bit heavier than my Total in the 16" variety, and the finish doesn't last as long. My dealer is cheap, (not the amish Stihl dealer, but a menonite Husky dealer, lol) His 20" total bars are 36 bucks, I think, off of the top of my head.

Yeah I did that....I got bored and needed a bad looking muffler mod. I just saw your other posts, and should have posted that in there instead of the King thread. lol. I have a regular cover from my 066 that I didn't use. I don't know how to mod it not to takeup tto much space and not to burn the bark. Putting a hole in it with screen on it directly on the front will burn the bark, especially in milling situation. I had that style mod on this 372 before doing the "double Barrel" mod. I did an upgrade to my 066 with the DP cover and made a post out of it. I'll see if I can dig it up quick.

Yes, but instead of using a straight piece of pipe, why not one or two 90's?

'cos the front of the muffer is already pretty much flush with the front of the saw!

if you want it to look cool, just have something than snaps onto the factory DP, but can be removed when you cut wood.:)
