Yeah, I got those limiters fixed last night.

I guess now that I have all new saws, switching over to synthetic would be a good idea. I use it in my vehicles.

I know you like the Stihl oil Lake, but what are the other options as far as full synthetic that you would feel comfortable using?

Hey Cut...thanks for posting those!! I think the consensus is that the Stihl DP cover is about the right size.

What I would like to do, however, is come up with a plan to have the stock, no port cover, modified just for milling. Maybe something like having a 90 come out of the cover, with a few inches of pipe on it to funnel the exhaust out past the clutch cover. That would be shooting it down when its in milling mode.

Why not shoot the exhaust up and get it out of the area?

That's is how my 3120 is set up. I use if for low stump cuts and I didn't like how the stock exhaust blew into the ground making dirt air-born and maybe getting pulled into the cut at the top of the bar. Those low stumps cuts are hard enough on the chain.

Dan do have any pictures..Might be something I would do to one of my 3120's

I thought about that...But when milling, Im usually at least 2 foot off the ground, so stirring up things isnt an issue. Shooting it up would become very hot on my face, as I am sometimes directly over the saw.....

Blowing down when the saw is close to the ground (last few cuts) is a problem - best to get it way from you.... I find it doesn't matter what you do when you are milling; the exhaust gets in your face unless you have a big fan to blow it away, or a wind.

I haven't used any ... m2xt and opti are the two I know others are using locally. The only reason I like the Stihl Is that I get it cheaper:biggrinbounce2:

No, that is my version of a cooling port. While in the mill, not only does it let whatever gets in there fall out, it aids in keeping the carb cool. We all know how those carbs heat up.
