I bought a clapped out Echo 590 2 years ago.I replaced the burned up piston and put in crank seals, and I think a carb kit. Its always had a problem with idle hang when hot hot.I did the check valve mod to lean out the top end.The thing is, I have wrung the crap out of this saw,and it just keeps cutting. For a 60 cc saw with a 20 inch bar, it cuts almost everything I need it to.Currently cutting 24 inch red oak rounds and noodling the rounds.Fuel consumption is very decent. I cant seem to abuse it enough to hurt it.Good saw I think.Tempted to buy a new one.

I have 2, got my dealer to price match a store that had them on clearance for 239.99. Runs 24" bar in red oak no problem. I haven't ran any husky/stihl to compare to but it cuts pretty fast IMO. I did upgrade the felling spikes though.

The port timing is very conservative on them..... Very Very.... if you ever need to replace the cylinder, just start with a 620 cylinder if you don't want to port your 590.

Retune the carb and mod the muffler outlet (remove the inner rearward-facing baffle will pay dividends even on a stock saw.

View attachment 962893To help the gentleman who said his bil had a 590 from the 80's, I'm curious what model it was. Those old echos had a distinct look that's for sure.
I'm curious too. He said he gave it to his son a few years ago because it got too heavy for him. I remember him getting it about the same time I got my Husqvarna 50 in 1986. His echo came with a 20" bar but that's about all I remember about it. I would think it would be in the 50-60cc range.

Those old echo kiortz are great saws. I remember reading an article about the 1st ones made, 2 guys cut this huge tree back in the day with the 1st echo saws made. It was a great article maybe in popular mechanics magazine from late 60's early 70's to prove the saws capability. I just tried searching for it but couldn't find it.

I had an old 750evl. It was serial number 78. I ended up selling it. It was way too heavy for me. The outside of the muffler was missing and I couldn't find one. That sucker was LOUD.

I do love the self cleaning clutch cover for noodling.Probably why I grab it first,It also oils without plugging too badly.Using a Makita 3/8 20 inch bar with an s-shaped cut down hose clamp for an adapter and a stretched echo chain currently ,lol.

Found a couple pics of it.

I have heard they had a screwdriver built in to adjust carb or something.
You had to use a screwdriver to adjust the H and L but the idle speed is that little knob on top to the left. The knob on the top right is the adjustable oiler. Also had a manual oiler lever to the left of the throttle trigger.

That's a big tree. I only used that saw a couple times after I got it running just to make sure everything was good with it. It had plenty of power. I just knew as heavy and loud as it was, that I wouldn't use it, so I passed it along to someone that really wanted it.
