Accusing Fish of "beveraging" again reminds me of a short story of one of my friends. (This does lead to chainsaws)

He had to go to the VA hospital to get his eye worked on. The doctor asked him if he drank much. He said Ya, about 2 to 3 6-packs a day. The doctor asked him if that caused him any trouble. He said, only when I run out. I can't legally drive, and I have to wait for one of the boys to drop around and then we go to town. And you know he actually cuts firwood pretty good, he has never had an accident I know of (not cutting wood anyway). He falls of ladders, and out of boats and those regular things "beveragers" do. He is a tuff ol Navy guy, he just gets back up and does it again.

It is Busch Lite. Now that may be safer beer than what you guys drink.

I only drink Remy when I cut, so I don't have to worry about the "Cutting Under the Influence" stuff that you rednecks who drink beer do.

Doug,

I like to sip Kentucky Tavern while sawing,it dulls the pain when I hid my leg with the bar.

There's a couple modified 066's BIN on ebay.If interested,take a look.

Friends to be serious it's the most stupid thing you could do,CUI.

"Chainsaw Savvy" by Neil Soderstrom, available at most public libraries,is a good read related to chainsaw safety and use.

Rick

I never CUI, but FUI everyday. I also PUI all the time.
I need a certain chemical balance to fix and post about saws.
I can even detect the preignition "ping" from my use of regular
fuel, and hear the scream of the saw's bearings from the use
of Stihl or Husky{Poulan} oil mixes.
It is funny however, that the warnings about alcohol are
only directed at the americans. Is beer one of the 5
foodgroups in Canada? Not wishing to start an incident, but when it comes to beer on the saw forum, no one seems to warn or chastise the Canadians. Not being the bragging type, but I
could drink any pale, skinny, Canadian under the table at any
time, even their green bottled swill.

I honestly can't understand why anyone would subject themselves to the potential for dismemberment or death by using a chainsaw under the influence of anything that might alter ones perception of reality. That would be just plain stupid.

Now, Canadians on the other hand...

Someone I'm very close to....who will remain nameless...was drinking and climbing a pole with spikes on many years ago, showing off at a party....he's still trying to find the time to 'stop' long enough to have his knee surgery. I guess it was a very quick trip down.

I used to work through the night in a little shop...just me and this young man, I'd lay out the patterns on fabric layed (laid?) out about a foot high. He'd come through with a saw and cut them out. He was under the influence one night (I think it was smoking though, not drinking) and went right into his hand. It was pretty bad. The owner had come in that night to do the books....totally flipped out....blood everywhere. I had the pleasure of getting him to the ER, after I got HER calmed down enough to leave her. She put out the money for metal mesh gloves after that.

Another job, a machine shop of sorts, was alot of fun....young guys again...liked to 'party' during the breaks, graveyard shift also. Although we were all wearing hearing protection, you could hear his screams as his arm was being pulled into the machine that would cut/bend the metal. Big guy, it was pretty horrible to watch him with his arm in there while they were trying to get him out. Dumb........

I'm not very tolerant about drinking/smoking when I was working with other people after that. If they're doing something that can physically hurt them....or ME or mine....I'm fairly vocal about it. After hours.....have at it.

In addition to cutting responsibly with repect toward the mandatory "8 hours from bottle to throttle", I always dress responsibly in the bush as well...

Hey Fish, I chastise the drunken Canadiens for too much drinking while engaged in saw play, at least I do when they email me as "Beavergirl", LOL.

Doug, I am continually impressed with your ability to raise the bar for the well equiped forestry professional. Even if your saw weren`t the sharpest in the forest, you`ve got to be the sharpest looking woodtick. I`d like to meet your tailor. Russ

Whatever happened to poor Beavergirl? Life is an illusion, even
more so on this site. I pity the poor fools that fall for all of this
jibberish. The "data" posted here was probably copied from
a comic book. As long as no one gets hurt, I guess it is all
OK.
In reality, I am the pastor of a Christian community here in the
outback of Ky. I only pose as "Fish" to lure converts to my
compound. Once here, I show them the true meaning of life, I only break out the rattlesnakes if I get a tough case. I would
love to have a pale Northener to "convert", Lambert is a high
prophet, scouring the country for fresh "converts". He sends
these poor Canucks down on a Greyhound, looking for the "religous one", but Darin is not here.
Babcock is an evil presence, a prankster most unholy,
but with one killer avvaaaataaar.

I am sure with the help of you fine brothers, we can purify this
forum, for the service of higher beings.
If any poster here uses a "term" with the prefix "neo",
he is an infidel, and may not be one of us.
If a member makes MVP in a month after joining, is either
trying to infiltrate our ranks, or else is 16 years old and real
bored.
Ok Otto is 17. Huskyman is at least 21.

Oh I get it! I disapear for a few days and you bunch of Rednecks start beatin up on me!
I for one, have never partook of beveraging while operating machinery, so it behooves me that anyone would make that insinuation.
And incidently, I dont appreciate you bunch of woodticks maligning my character!
Get a Life!
John

do you mean to tell me that there is another food group other than beer? I find this information both disturbing and unfounded.

Fish, refering to the offer to drink a pale northerner under the table....Doesn't your wife let you drink at the table?? Things are strange in KY.

I can honestly say I have never seen a Canadian overindulge.

Dennis, that is very irresponsible of you, giving the American people the idea that us Canadians overimbib.
You have never seen me in that condition.
John

Yes Dennis, that picture brings back fond memories of the continuous party in front of your house last summer. Of course we all know that Kanadians aren't any more or less beer mongers than Amerikans, it's just a question of how much they can consume before badness sets in.

And John,
I just went back over all of the posts made in reference to you since you've been "gone" and I don't think anyone here has taken any gross liberties in regard toward maligning your character any more than they have of anyone else. No one specifically said or inferred that you drink while you operate machinery. As far as the Kanadian/drinking connection, you're no better or worse than anyone else in this regard. If I have offended you with the alcohol thing specifically, then I appologize as that was not my intention. All I wanted to get across was that you are evil.

I also don't advocate taking pictures while under the influence.

It seems the larger the saw the more often it is seen at fine establishments like this one in Chesaw Washington.
