He's in disbelief that he brought this upon himself. lol

I gotta go feed my dog...

Later all.

If I didn't come out of that rabbit hole i'd be inclined to go down it. It could be a sabertooth groundhog waiting to tear my head off:givebeer:

{I didn't see many people that could say a word about this in the Management Forum, so I brought it here. I doubt doing so is a felony on any continent. Thanks though}

I've never encountered this in my business practice so far. I'm working on a nice estate taking out a few trees and some other tasks.

As far as how I've been handling business I've developed my prices for services around the average craigs list customer only as of yet. My prices are competitive on the chicken scratch level craigs list market. I've just got this particular customer through another customer instead of craigs list. It's his boss.

I keep giving him numbers for the services, and he keeps telling me to ask for more. "I'm going to pay you. Don't be scared to ask for more" he says. He actually scoffed about it in one instance. Usually my customers pee themselves when I tell them the truth about what these things cost, but this guy is insinuating something else all together.

What should I do with this guy? I could really use some extra money to expand my gear and service forte here. Should I just ask for the same price I get from everybody else, or should I round those digits up? How far up?

Maybe he is an undercover investigator for the IRS and is just trying to build a better case against you for tax evasion by getting you to charge more. Check his pockets for one of these

"Thank you for offering more money but I priced it at $$$$ and I'm going to do it for that but I will also take a tip"

my line...

Hey tree mds, lets see those pics of that 3k Oak That the homeowner siad he'll pay you $1400.. I have been putting some low prices on jobs just so the owners will let me do them here lately. Alot of folks don't have the money they used too for Tree work seems like.. At least in my small Town anyway..

a simple rule.

do what the customer asks you to do within reason.

sounds within reason to me.

I hear you.Work ain't paying what it did 2 years ago.

Btw,just noticed your location .
Is Henderson way up on the hill there before you go into the gorge heading into Tn.?
I used to love the ride thru there when I was driving a truck.
Very nice scenery.

Eh, I'll just charge the max for everything on the itemized itinerary. This is like walking out onto major league turf for the first time some how. "Does the ground shake when you hit the home runs?"

I was thinking about how I'll nail the triple bagger because of this job on the way home tonight. I'll get the climbing gear, big Husky, and that dump trunk finished that needs some more work before it does any hauling when I collect from this guy. That will put things in gear around here.

I'll just state the full price for everything. I'll make it clear, so he takes note that I did not exagerate on any costs, and just not mention the rates I mentioned in the first place. He'll probably refer my business number to the folks in his circle $$$$ even still. Then I'll hint he was kind of wierd for offering me so much in the first place, "Ha, ha, so gratuity would be OK, and thanks for offering." Honestly."

The bottome line is this amounts to superior or inferior business management. Move in on his offer, take down this thing for the company, don't leave any "shady" thoughts in his head, and move the company up a rung.

Being a business owner doesn't mean a thing to anybody if the company is not ripping money any better than what I'm taking in right now, so the number is going to be bigger than ever.

That's some funny crap some of you guys posted. Even the badge icon. About that. The guy is a semi-retired, oil refinery owner, so he's not likely to be any kind of guy giving me the "ol' checkeroo."
