Just curious, Why cut the cable? I know it is faster but disconnecting and reconnecting the CATV only adds 10-20 minutes tops to the job and minimizes the time that a little old lady has to miss her soap operas.

Mny times tthe cable is grounded inside the basement and wopuld require fishing it back through the wall and resealing.

I made the mistake of brevity because in a previouse post I mentioned disconnecting from a wall mount. One can do this with the newer phone hookups too.

I'm not gonna gaff the pole to unhook for the line tap.

I disconnect when I can, but many will have these anti tamper devices where you have to have the magical tool to disconnect, when I see that I pull out my magical tool (wire cutters) and re-connect it myself when I am done. Only had 1 time where I called the cable idiots out to reconnect the line. Where I live the Cable monopoly has been hit with fines and the threat to revoke their monopoly by our local city council for thier lousy service. People wait weeks for repair, get screwed on thier bills, have service interuped all the time, etc... Power guys are great!! Free, and will be there on time to drop the service and hook it back up.

I've had no probelm with the power people either. Another thing I've done is aske the power guy to drop the cable when he is up the pole.

Weiner Cable is not so bad over here, if you give them enough time.

I asked the ol' boy that came out to drop the line some questions to see how far his company would be willing to reach out to help me. He was super friendly and said, "if in doubt call me, better safe than sorry!" I'm impressed.:)

. . . and oh yeah, thanks AS folks for helping every time I have an ignoranimous question.;)

Questions asked

Asked the questions and you got answers, now you know more than you did yesterday and you'll live to see tomorrows. The old timer is right, better Safe than Sorry. Glad to hear you had a good experience with the the old timer and all you had to do was ask.
