Tony, are you saying this thread has wayyyyyyy to much eye candy, not enough information? What if the saws accually work and it's not a lot of hype and eye candy? You going to buy one for the collection? When Sthil and Husky came out did we have computers to post pics? :D If these saws are any good I may get one in blue to go with the one I already ordered tatooed with decals.

Thanks to Rich for starting this thread we get pics now while we wait for the delivery truck to find us. :D

DOLMAR PS7900's have Hi-Lo adjustable carb screwsw/o caps.
Makita's version has limiter caps.
Dolmarusa.com needs to fix their website then, because this morning, both the parts list (752 KB PDF file) and the owner's manual (6.6 MB PDF file) [both dated 17 July 2003] show that there are limiter caps on the ZAMA for the US/EPA version.

Hope this isn't just stating the obvious...

Glen

This class of engines isn't as subject to EPA standards as others.
It WILL eventually have to happen.

See the DOLMAR Air Master photos posted.
Somewhere, in one or two photos, you'll see the carb left side.
The black item is a seal, and screwdriver guide.

Check w/ DOLMAR Dan, get yours before it happens.

OK you lost me on this one.All of the 7900s that I have looked at have the limiter caps on the adjusting screws. These are the little plastic parts that slide over the screws and keep you from turning them around the ring.Once the small tabs fall off of these caps, the screws will make a complete turn.
Does the off colored saw have adjusting screws?

Thanks for the ????.

Grandma always said, "Haste makes waste".
So my hasty replies were somewhat wasteful. Wish I could type instead of the "two finger hunt & peck". Fingers don't stay up with my thoughts. hate how long it takes to "type".

Earlier post should be written:
DOLMAR PS7900's have Hi-Lo adjustable carb screws w/caps. Not,...w/o.
Makita version has limiter caps also.
They are the same saw, DOLMAR makes the Makita blue & silver.

The HI-Lo screws are "fully adjustable", if the caps are removed which is legal,...for now.

The white rubber adjustment guide is for the Hi-Lo screws.
The black one is a guide & seal.

This class of engines will eventually be cleaned up more to meet future standards, and could require a non adjustable carb, or semi adjustable carb, ie., fixed Hi side.

Hpoe this clears things up......

no geofore ,,i aint actually doing nothin but trying to find out if the saws got h adjustments. if a tool works,, is the only thing that matters to me.. im having trouble understanding how to get these new 2 cycle motors without the h adjustment ,,to run properly.. got to say tho,, the one that was giving me trouble,, ive figured out,, so im on my way.
im usually sayin things as clear as i can . unless im joking.later now

The saw is here no time to dangle a sentence for long, the trees are calling. Time to tickle the chain and see how she runs.

Play in the rain

Dan, we had 1.79" of rain this morning, with thunder and lightning. The wife doesn't want me out on the lightning. It ended here about 10:30 am. Took the saw out about 1:00 pm and did a red oak and a white oak, a cherry and a quaking aspen. Not only is it fast but so smooth. WOW! I"ll go out tomorrow and try it on some bigger trees.

Let me clear the Limiter cap controversy completely. The high speed screw comes (keyword COMES0 with a limiter cap. The low speed needle does not have a limiter cap on it.

Terry

Sorry for the sloppy info. Should have split the screws up better.
With all the work done on the saw you'd think I'd know better.
Need more caffine & less sleep.

Terry, Thanks for cleanng that up.
