Howdy- The air filter and intake flange ( which the air filter mounts to ) are the same as the one on the Husqvarna 365. You can switch the flange and filter out to the 372 style without any modification but your air cover will not fit on the saw. You can also use the aluminum stack adapter for the Husqvarna 266 and use a foam air filter like a "green weenie", which will fit under your cover but it won't filter as good as the stock filter does.

The aspect ratio on some of the pics is a bit off it would seem, but other than that they're nice bits of information indeed. Thanks, Scott.

I was prompted by this thread to visit the US website from which I fetched the PDF version of their catalog. It's 5½ megabytes in size and can be found at http://www.dolmarusa.com/upload/docs/catalog.pdf. I don't recall seeing much about it in the saw section, but they're pretty proud of their fixed jet carbs on the cut-off machines and string trimmers. Also, it sounds like they're claiming the side-tensioner idea.

I agree with the other expressed sentiments regarding the air filter. The catalog boasts that in spite of it's small size, it's 20% bigger than before...

Did someone say stack adapter? Here's the one you are referring to I believe

372 air filter on 365

When working on the landing I use a 365 quite abit. Just wondering if changing to the larger filter would help much. Any performance differences? Also no carb adjustments when changing filters. Sorry for so many questions and appreciate any info.

365 filter

Dozerdan,

Thanks for the information. I'll probably set it up this weekend if I have time. The larger filter should help with the dirty conditions here.

Thanks again

Matt

time will tell on it .but if performance is as,, u guys say... the saws,, sure solidly built.
we may have a winner... but lets dont shoot all the other hosses just yet.:)
pleas tell us it has a high low carb adjust. its probably pictured and i missed it .

It does appear to have quite a lot of filter surface area for such a small package. I can't help but think getting an air nozzle in to properly clean those pleats would be a real treat. Maybe the system has a very effective centrifugal primary filter and the element won't need much attention.

Glen is on the right track, Dolmar is using a system similar to Husky`s Air injection.

The problem I see with these type sytems is that while they do stop large particles from getting on the filter they also drive smaller particles at high velocity into the filter. The small particles are what cloges a filter. I noticed this with my 372. The filter would look fairly clean but when you blew it out with compressed air alot of dust came out of it.

Ben, that rationale has been proven to be false. Are you saying that your Stihl filters don`t get any fine dust on them? There`s no comparison in my book and I run both brands. Husky has it head and shoulders over Stihl in air filtration and filter maintenance.

Air Filter

If you ever have the opportunity to run one of Dolmars new 6400,7300 or the 7900 for a day, look at the air after that day of cutting and then report back to us about how it works. They also told Henry Ford that his newly designed V8 engine wouldn't last. They told him since he had the pistons laying on their side it would wear the bottom side of the cylinder bore and they would be egg shaped in no time.
